Sizesinclude 11-1/2" H x 8" W (overall very goodcondition with firing cracks to lid and base andminor chips to lid. Glaze has some crazing andsome minor drips of house paint); 11-1/4" H x9" W (overall excellent condition with somecrazing to glaze and some minor drips of whitehouse paint); 10-3/4" H x 7-3/4" W (overallvery good condition with firing crack to lid andbase. Minor chips to lid and crazing to glaze);and 10-1/4" H x 7-1/2" W (overall very goodcondition with a firing crack to lid and minorcrazing of the glaze). Provenance: Consignorslived close to Mossy Creek and were closefriends of the Meaders family. They purchasedthe canister set directly from Arie Meaders inthe early 1960s. Arie Waldrop Meaders(1897-1989) was born the third of twelvechildren in Macon County, NC. When herfamily moved to North Georgia she met andmarried Cheever Meaders. By the 1950s thefolk pottery trade her husband and his familyhad practiced since 1892 was failing. Ariestepped in and began creating and producingcolorful and innovative designs that brought arevival to the craft. In 1978 she was honoredalongside her son, Lanier, by the Library ofCongress in Washington, DC with MeadersPottery Day. Made by C. F. Decker Sr. atthe Keystone Pottery of Chucky Valley Tenn."This piece also has an additional inscribed starand heart motif around the spout, eight incisedlines around the body. 15 1/2" length, 8 1/2"diameter on ends.
