<strong>IRF</strong> GT&E Certification <strong>Workshop</strong>s<strong>Workshop</strong> Dates:14-15-16-17 August, 2011. <strong>IRF</strong> Raft Certification <strong>Workshop</strong>21-22-23 August, 2011. <strong>IRF</strong> Safety Craft Certification <strong>Workshop</strong>Locations: <strong>Austria</strong>, <strong>Tirol</strong>, HaimingAssessor: Gaspar GonczThe <strong>International</strong> <strong>Rafting</strong> Federation Guide Training and Education Certification<strong>Workshop</strong> runs over four days for Raft certifications and 3 days for safety craftcertifications. The workshop is open to anyone who is an active raft guide or safetycrafter who is looking to upgrade their current <strong>IRF</strong> qualification or to anyone wishing tocompliment their existing Raft Guide Qualification at any level below <strong>IRF</strong> Assessor tothe widely recognised <strong>IRF</strong> Guide Training Award Scheme. The purpose is to improve onbest practice for the industry and the attendance cost is kept down to a minimumcovering costs only, making it affordable to everyone and to assure good attendance atonly 100 Euro/<strong>Workshop</strong> + <strong>IRF</strong> registration fee.The workshop will be overseen by Gaspar Goncz the current <strong>IRF</strong> Guide Training andEducation Committee Chairman.To be eligible to attend the workshop you need to have a current 1 st Aid Certificatewhich included CPR training. As per the GT&E Award Scheme guidelines it is notnecessary to complete an <strong>IRF</strong> Guide Training Course prior to a Certification <strong>Workshop</strong> ifyou already have either: demonstrable experience as a raft guide or hold another raftguide qualification. An up to date log of your experience is required and to be madeavailable for inspection by the assessor.Key purposes of an <strong>IRF</strong> Certification <strong>Workshop</strong>; Share knowledge and improve best practice with existing <strong>IRF</strong> Instructors andkeep their qualification current Assess new Raft and Safety Craft Instructors to the <strong>IRF</strong> GT&E Award Scheme Assess Trip Leaders Assess Raft Guides and Safety Crafters


Raft Certification <strong>Workshop</strong> Programme:Meeting: Sunday 13.00 14.August, 2010. <strong>Rafting</strong> Base Faszinatour, Haiming – Meetingand Registration.Day 1. Sunday: On River up to Grade 5 – <strong>IRF</strong> Raft Guide AssessmentsAssessments include:- Basic Rescue Techniques i.e. A challenging swim, throw bag rescue / recoilrescue, Raft flip drill, Z-drag or any functional 3:1 or 4:1 system built from thereown gear within 5 minutes.Day 2: On River up to Grade 5 - Raft Guide Assessments – All participants of theworkshop are assessed at the Raft Guide Level for the qualification they are going for.i.e. Instructor 4/5 would be assessed on Grade 5 water, Instructor 3 would be assessedon Grade 3 water.Assessments include:- <strong>Rafting</strong> Techniques and safety brief for Raft Guide Assessments.Day 3: On River Scenario Handling - Trip Leader Assessment – All Trip Leader andInstructor Participants are assessed at handling an emergency scenario.Day 4: Off River – Instructor Assessment – All Instructor Participants are assessed onproviding a presentation on a particular aspect of Raft Guiding. (Optional for guides andtrip leaders)Anyone attending days 1-2 or 3 are welcome to stay on and participate in theremainder of the workshop for experience and will not have to pay any additional fees.Safety Craft Certification <strong>Workshop</strong> Programme:Meeting: Sunday 13.00 21.August, 2010. <strong>Rafting</strong> Base Faszinatour, Haiming – Meetingand Registration.Day 1.
