From the PresidentDear Members,This will be my last message to you as President. My three year tenure has come to an end, and I wish to take this opportunity to truly thank all thepeople who have made these three years so enjoyable. You are too numerous to mention by name, but all the office staff and office volunteers, and all regional committees, and the ad hoc subcommittees who have organized events, have made my presidency so rewarding. I also want tothank all the ordinary members who attend the classes so regularly, without your attendance U3A would have no reason to exist. Your presence, and your acute questions and the lively discussions, make all the work worthwhile. We are fortunate in having so many members who are happy to present such interesting and thought provoking courses. I have been to verymany, and I am looking forward to being a more regular attendee in future, particularly in the water colour art class where I need much muchmore, time, talent and concentration! This semester has seen U3A grow in strength, our membership is increasing and there have been innovations and new ideas which bode wellfor the future. We had a very successful Sydney wide event in the Customs House in October. Two members spoke in the morning on ClimateChange, and their opposing views gave us much to think about. In the afternoon, the topic of Population also caused discussion. Both topics haveimportant affects on life in Australia and we are now better informedOur meetings are a perfect opportunity to hear new subjects and to meet friends to discuss the latest news. U3A is a wonderful organization withwonderful members; please introduce your friends to a life changing experience.Again thank you for your kindness and generosity to me, I have really appreciated your friendship and will miss the U3A office (for a time!)My best wishes to you all,SincerelyLesley DuffillEVENTS FOR ALLSemester 1, 2011VISIT TO NUCLEAR REACTOR AT LUCAS HEIGHTSWednesday 2 MarchThe 2 1/2 hour guided tour will start in the Lecture Hall, followed by a bus tour of the site.
