Last Week’s Meeting 25 November 2010Opening: At a little after7.15am President Guy withhis new look round tableopened the meeting by introducingDistrict GovernorElect Liz Westoby and herhusband, and our guestspeaker, Professor JanetRichardson from ECU.AnnouncementsConference 2011: President Guy reminded all aboutnext years Bi District Conference and that early birdregistrations close on 6th Dec.SwapMart Report: PP Darrell Carmody reportedthat it was an extremely busy day with 272 bays sold(mind you we only have 260 at a stretch!) for takings of$4504 with no vegie seller present.4 Way Test: Fred Marsh announced the semi final ofthe Public Speaking were held last Tuesday night.Three students were selected to progress to the finals tobe held at District Conference.Movies by Burswood: Neil Darch again reminded usabout the value added cardsConti wines: President Guy reminded us orders need tobe in by the end of the second week in December. Orderforms can be found on page 8.WheelChairs for Kids: PP Gordon Hudson announcedthat envelopes had been placed on tables advisingof the availability of W4K’s Christmas Cards.These are a major fund raiser for W4K’s.Torches: PP David Gaubert reported that there weretorches for sale.Club Xmas Party: To be held on Saturday 18thDec. Her intention is to introduce herselfbefore she makes the customary official visits toclubs. Liz reported that she has been a Rotarianfor 16 years and been in clubs in 9460, 9450 and9455. She joined Rotary when women were notexactly popular in Rotary. She went on to outlineher projects for the year. With regards to Youthshe would like to develop an Australia - NewZealand RYE exchangeand acountry - metroexchange. Shewould encourageclubs to look attheir culture andupdate it if necessary.Paul Harrissaid in 1935, thisis a changingworld and wemust be preparedto change with it.PAUL N. Apart from drafting a resolutioncalling for " Respect for Human Rights"...What Elsedid Rotarians Establish During that year. ?( A - A Rotary Relief Fund to help victims of War)_District Governor Elect LIZ WESTOBY...... IN whatYear Did our good friend Herb Taylor draft the 24word "Four Way Test". ?(a- 1932 )And FRED MARSH.......Rotary International Officiallyadopts the "Four Way Test" in what Year ?(A 1943 )The Sergeants "Pet Pin Project " nabbed 6 Rotarianswho were not wearing a pin. Joan BABICH, DaveTAYLOR, Mike SULTANOWSKY, Bob PHELPS,Trevor CANNING and Terry HUNTER who tried toavoid a fine by sneaking in.Isabelle CHU for having a suspicious "ringing sound"emanating from her phone.Darryl CARMODY was fined because he was theSwap Mart Captain when Peter HOO tried to promotethe saying " Service Above Self ". Unfortunately, henearly did himself a "disservice" as he nearly ran overan old lady as he helped another park their car into avery tight spot.Dave TAYLOR copped a fine for referring to a"particular" Rotarian as being "GREY" in Bulletin Updates( Joan Babich mockingly took offence.. and awardedhis humour with a nice bottle of .....you guessed it...GREY NOMAD.)Mr W Duck:Still believed to be in the vicinityof the residence of DavidGaubert. Somewhat reluctant toleave due to the shortage adequatewater sourcesAttendance Officers Josie & BernieGuy LEHMANN for his part in not charging the "InnerWheel" for their 3 bays at the Swap Mart last week.Josie KOPSEN for "showing off" about how many"Movies For Burswood" tickets she has sold.and In Rotary Trivia. The following Rotarians wereasked the following questions. DI GODSON..........._IN 1930. Rotary celebrated its 25 year with a SilverJubilee Convention in Chicago.During festivities...
