The Marktplatz in Bonn is open every day (except Sunday), whereas the Bad Godesberg market is open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings. Shopping carts require a 1€ piece or a chip which you can purchase at some grocery stores. 1. Edeka, Stüssgen, Kaiser, Rewe, etc. are all chains of small local grocery stores. They have many locations all around the area. 2. Aldi, Plus, Lidl and Netto are cash and carry type of wholesale stores where you can buy a limited range of food and drinks sometimes at cheaper prices. Watch their flyers for one-time special offers on such goods as computers, sports equipment and appliances. There are many stores throughout the area. 3. HIT is a chain of larger supermarkets throughout the Bonn area with a wide variety of foods including fresh cheese, meat, fish and vegetable counters as well as an in-house bakery. Few stores: Bad Godesberg/Mehlem (Drachenburg Str: 14); Sankt Augustin; Bad-Honnef. 4. <strong>TO</strong>OM: is a chain of supermarkets/ superstores stocking not only food items but also clothing, electrical goods, housewares, gardening supplies, etc. Bad Godesberg: Michael Platz. Always plenty of parking under the store. 5. Edeka in Berkum is a very large and new US, Canada style grocery store with plentiful parking. REAL in Sankt Augustin is a large superstore with food, electrical goods, housewares etc. It is part of a mini-mall (The “HUMA” centre) with other smaller shops and stalls selling a variety of goods. “Saturn” electrical store is also located there. “HUMA Einkaufspark”, Rathausallee 16, 53757 Sankt Augustin. 7. Metro in Sankt Augustin is a club store and to shop there you will need to complete an application to obtain a members card. Check with your employer regarding eligibility. You can then shop there for bulk goods 5.10.2 Organic Foods “Bioladen” and “Reformhaus” refer to bio or natural food shops. You will find them everywhere. They also usually carry a wide range of environmentally sound products for your household. For particular addresses you might like to check the Telephone book under “Naturkost”. Regular stores also carry some organic products. Look for Füllhorn (ReWe), Bioland, Naturland, Demeter, etc. There is a biofarm in Friesdorf (Im Bachele 1b) called “Leyenhof”. You can buy vegetables, bread, cheese, meat, etc. or place a weekly order for your groceries (with varied seasonal vegetables/fruits) to be home delivered (Tel.: (0228) 310 815). Going there also makes a great outing for small children who can see the animals. (www.leyenhof.de) There are also various bio-markets; for instance on Saturday near Münsterplatz downtown Bonn and on Friday morning in Bad Godesberg, Marktplatz.
