Bonn Newcomer Guide
As an owner of a television set, radio, PC or Video/TV you must register each piece of equipment and
pay a licence fee. The charge is based on the number of radios / televisions you have in your house.
Applications can be picked up in any Post Office and some banks. The cost is approximately 53
Euros/quarter. If you are caught operating any of these appliances without a license, you will be fined
up to 1000 Euros. The regulatory authority is:

There are two main libraries:
The “Stadtbibliothek” in Bonn and
The “Bezirksbibliothek” in Bad Godesberg. (Corner of Bonner/Moltke Strasse)
The Bad Godesberg library received a donation of the contents of a store, which used to rent out
English language videos. There are over 2000 English language videos available. You will need to
join the library. There is a yearly borrowing charge.
