ThanksTry it YourselfTurn a Scene into an Oil PaintingThe character of an oil painting is quite different from that of a watercolor. Let's try to apply the oil paint technique to a photo.1. As always, start by preparing the picture. Adjust the colors if necessary and crop as needed.2. Open the Underpainting filter dialog box (Filter Artistic Underpainting).3. Set the Brush Size to 6 and the Texture Coverage to 21. These settings will retain most of the detail in the picture.4. Set the Texture to Canvas and Scaling to somewhere around 70%. You want to keep the texture small so that it doesn't interferewith the detail you will be adding to the picture later.5. Set the Relief to 7 and the Light Direction to Top Right. This shows just enough texture to establish that your painting is on canvasrather than stone. The Light Direction matches the position of the sun.6. Click OK to apply the filter. Figure 10.8 shows the result so far.Figure 10.8. The scene with just the Underpainting applied.
