This section of track caters for block trains and general freight traffic running at 80 kph.The maximum grade (not compensated for horizontal alignment) that an Up train - (loaded- travelling south) will encounter is 1 in 125 whilst for a Down train (empty - travelling north)is 1 in 119 (at the Junction).Existing minimum nominal horizontal curve radii are as follows :-running lineballoon loopsiding and depots1200 m300 m140 mFencing along this corridor complements adjacent land usage and is maintained at the followingstandard, poor (100 %).Minimum nominal horizontal radius for new or upgrade works is as follows :-running line 2170 m 160 kph running1662 m 140 kph running1221 m 120 kph running848 m 100 kph running542 m 80 kph runningballoon loop 300 m minimum radiussiding and depot140 mDESCRIPTION OF THE TRACKThe track on this system is a mix of 53 kg/m, 47 kg/m and 41 kg/m with the associatedsleeper types namely steel and timber on crushed rock ballast.
