The award wasmade “in recognition of exemplary service,skill, extraordinary talent, professionalknowledge, and dedication to the progress ofthe individual student.” She worked as a childwelfare case worker before beginning herteaching career. She taught in Dallas atLake Highlands High School andBishop Lynch High School before hermove to St. Mary’s Hall.73James Downs has been involved inall aspects of the theater for manyyears, most of those with BackdoorPlayers in Wichita Falls, Texas, andlater with Theatre III in Dallas. He also livedand worked in Yosemite National Park wherenature brought his work with poetry backinto focus.
