D.D. Johnston-Hargitt House Museum (All Ages)12426 Mapledale StreetSaturday, June 4 & 18, July 16, August 6 & 20 · 1:00-4:00 p.m.The Museum iscurrently registeredon the NationalRegistry <strong>of</strong> Hist<strong>or</strong>icalPlaces and, at onetime, held up to 200acres <strong>of</strong> grapes, prune,avocado, and citrustrees. Built in 1891,the D.D. Johnston-Hargitt House Museum is a two-st<strong>or</strong>y Eastlake Vict<strong>or</strong>ian farmhousethat was owned by Darius David Johnston. He was one <strong>of</strong> N<strong>or</strong>walk’s leading pioneersas well as the <strong>or</strong>ganizer <strong>of</strong> the N<strong>or</strong>walk School District. He served on the school boardfrom the late 1880’s until his death in 1917. The Museum contains D.D. Johnston-Hargitt family heirlooms and other mem<strong>or</strong>abilia as well as glimpses into N<strong>or</strong>walk’spast. The Museum is brought to life through docent-led tours given by the Friends<strong>of</strong> Hargitt House.
