Concurrently,all across the country, local entrants vie for recognitionas the very best in their markets. At the second tier,local <strong>winners</strong> compete against other <strong>winners</strong> in oneof 15 District competitions. District <strong>winners</strong> are thenforwarded to the third tier, the National ADDY® Awardscompetition. Entry in your local ADDY® competition isthe first step toward winning a National ADDY®.Entering the ADDY® competition supports our entireindustry, because the AAF and its local and districtaffiliates use the proceeds to enhance advertisingthrough programs such as public service, internships,advocacy groups, advertising education, and consumerawareness.Selection of the most creative entry in each category iseffected by a scoring process in which a panel of judgesevaluates all creative dimensions of every entry. In eachcategory, a Gold ADDY® is recognition of the highestlevel of creative excellence and is judged to be superiorto all other entries in the competition. about the clubOur local club is a nonprofit professional developmentorganization enabling professionals to keep currentwith trends in the advertising, marketing, andcommunications industries and to increase the levelof competency within their profession. We celebrateachievement, sponsor educational events, and providea community forum for the advertising and marketingindustry in Eastern Iowa.The <strong>American</strong> <strong>Advertising</strong> <strong>Federation</strong>: <strong>Cedar</strong> <strong>Rapids</strong>-Iowa City (AAF: CR-IC) isaffiliated with the <strong>American</strong> <strong>Advertising</strong> <strong>Federation</strong> (AAF) which is geographicallyorganized into 15 districts which operate as a link between AAF and its localmembers. AAF: CR-IC is a part of the 9th district that includes clubs from Missouri,Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas City (M.I.N.K).The AAF: CR-IC is in its 43rd year. Thanks to its many talented and dedicatedmembers, AAF: CR-IC has had a notable presence in the 9th District for 43 years.We intend to maintain our standing in the district as well as nationally. He is currently InteractiveCreative Director in the River North areaof Chicago for ad agency Colman BrohanDavis. Ron and his team of art directorswork on some of the agency’s largerclients. Under his supervision, the teammaintains a high level of quality and brandstandards for each of these clients. Ronstrives to do great work for a wide varietyof clients for years to come.Scott Millen: Creative Director, Pivotal Communications, KalamazooA BFA graduate of Calvin College, Grand <strong>Rapids</strong>, MI, Scott Millenis Vice President and Creative Director of Kalamazoo-based PivotalCommunications. As such, he wields the red pen of truth, andruminates on the “next big thing” (what to have for dinner). In addition to being ahusband and father of three boys, he also has a dog and a cat, but wishes not todiscuss it further. Others may wish to speak on how he has been lauded with awardsand accolades, such as being published in Print, and GD:USA, winning ADDY’s andbeing named One To Watch in 2005 in the aforementioned GD:USA, but Scott is shyand retiring, and poo-pooh’s such attention.
