Це наша справа, колиці вартости топчуть, тим більшетоді, коли топчуть на користьолігархів, які вчора фальсифікуваливибори, а сьогодні головуютьу проводі держави. ВУкраїні ходить гіркий жарт: закрадену капусту сидить біднийу тюрмі, а за крадіж більйонівдоларів дістанеш найвишчі урядовіпости, ще й імунітет відкримінального слідства!Це наша справа, коли бідністають біднішими, а багатшірозпихаються і чваняться, в кого38 Íàøà Äîðîãà îñiíü/2006більше грошей у Швейцарськомубанкy. Наша, коли молодих дівчатманять у проституцію, астарші вмирать передчасто. Наша,коли мільйони виїжджаютьв пошуку за працею, а скарбиУкраїни — метал, нафто-газ,ліс — використовують лайдакияк особисту власність.Так, легше сказати, що мояхата з краю... Aле, як сказав геніальнийІван Франко: “Пам’ятай,що на тобі стан мільйонів стоїть”.Ми є діти Божі, і вони теж.Рівно ж, це наші брати і сестри.Наша справа: подати руку обезсиленим.І показати пальцем назло. Або й більше.З задоволенням почую Вашідумки.Iam proud of this issue of. Why? Becauseagain, we managed to accomplisha few “firsts”. And doingsomething new for the firsttime may not be easy but feelsgood when progress is made.Many, if not most Ukrainianorganizations in Canada, actuallyaround the world and, in fact, allnot just the Ukrainian ones, paylip service to the view that theyoung are our future. Those whogo beyond the words and deliveraction can boast of success.In this issue profiles someof Canada’s bilingual schools andhears testimonials from youngpeople who attend them. Howoptimistic they are; how dedicated.They rejuvenate and motivatewith their enthusiasm. Wehope the profiling will encourageothers to send their children toour schools and, in turn, encourageparents to read Ukrainian publicationslike . Win, win. Also,we profile exceptional womenwho have distinguished themselvesnationally in science, theatreand internationally in space.We want the best for our kids;these young women are the best.And they did it through excellenteducation, hard work, and nodoubt, influential parents. Bravo!We also acknowledge somewonderful young men who havecome together for sports but, infact, are rejuvenating the Ukrainiancommunity life in Ottawawhich is suffering somewhat fromatrophy and lack of initiative asare many communities in the diasporawho have succumbed toprocess, photo ops and meetingsas substitutes for action. In thenext issue we will familiarizereaders with the Ukrainian youthorganizations in Canada. All ofthis to help focus on that which isour future: the young ones.I look forward to hearing whatyou have to say about this and anyof the other issues we raise inor on any subject that touches ourlives.
