D. Salt Water IntrusionThe Town of Souris has an excellent supply offresh water, with five wells located next to theIndustrial Park. The Souris and Area Branch ofthe PEI Wildlife Federation has produced a SourisRiver Watershed Management Plan. It includesprotection zones for the well field area, locatedin the Norris Creek sub-watershed (Figure 17).There has been no evidence of saltwaterintrusion into Souris’s municipal water system.Private well owners, however, have encounteredsaltwater intrusion. One cottage owner in the Lobster Point area drilled four wells before finallyobtaining reasonably fresh water.
