Greek brothersand sisters provide a “home away from home” for SPSU students that offerssupport and guidance.LeadershipThe Fraternity and Sorority Community provides opportunities for both leadershipand development. Each year members of the Greek community are sent to variousregional and national leadership conferences. Numerous leadership opportunitiesare available through the chapters and governing councils.ScholarshipScholarship is an important aspect of the Fraternity and SororityCommunity at SPSU. Chapters provide academic resources,study sessions, scholarship awards, and other incentives tohelp members achieve academically. National research hasalso demonstrated that fraternity and sorority members aremore likely to complete a college degree than non-members.Service/PhilanthropyService is a fundamental component of the Fraternity and SororityCommunity. Each fraternity and sorority chapter has a philanthropyproject that they support by giving both time and donations throughoutthe year. Greek organizations support a variety of different philanthropicand service projects in Marietta, the Metro Atlanta area, and nationally.SocialChapters and members create lifelong friendships and memories at many social events. Organizationshost brotherhood and sisterhood gatherings, retreats, mixers, and formals. These opportunities allowchapter members to establish relationships and enhance their skills in communication and team building.3
