Webelieve that it is important to take at least one light on every divejust to see the incredible beauty that lies hidden in the shadowsunder coral and rocks. Our lights are the standard for scuba diversaround the world. We have designed all of our lights to be incrediblybright, rugged, compact, and waterproof to at least 500 feet.You can be assured that each light includes the latest technologyand is the brightest, smallest and most powerful in its class.With minimal care your Underwater Kinetics light will give you yearsof trouble-free service.On/OffScrew the bezel down by twisting clockwise until the lamp comesON. Turn the light OFF with at least 1-1/2 counter-clockwise turns ofthe bezel.Battery InsertionInsert 4 alkaline AA-size batteries as inthe diagram. To do this, orient the casein one hand as shown in the diagram.Insert battery 1 into the case and let itslide to the back. Insert battery 2 into theopening and let it drop in front of battery 1.Insert batteries 3 and 4 into the opening.Insert the reflector lamp into the case opening.Push the bezel over the reflector lamp andpast the O-ring. Twisting the bezel clockwisewill thread it onto the case.Note: Lampwill notlight unlessbatteriesare insertedas shown! CAUTION• Batteries which are (1) loaded without observing the properpolarity, (2) are not the same type, brand name and ageor(3) are completely discharged can vent hydrogen gas andpossibly cause an explosion.• Load batteries according to the diagram shown on the light orin these instructions.• Do not mix batteries of different type, brand name or age.• Discard all batteries as soon as they are drained or no longerproduce light.Mini Q40 eLEDmounted on a divemask strapLimited Lifetime Warranty©2004 UNDERWATER KINETICS Z170290 rev. 03/04eLED Lamp ModuleThe eLED module is an integrated unit. There are no replaceableparts . In addition to the the 1-Watt LED the module contains anelectronic circuit which prevents the LED from losing brighness asthe batteries are discharged.Mask Strap AttachmentThe Mini Q40 eLED can be worn attached to the strap of your divemask for hands-free lighting of gauges, camera controls or close-upviewing of marine life. Snap the strap from the Mini Q40 eLEDaround the mask strap as shown. It is best worn on the right sideopposite the snorkel and as far forward as possible. Remember tobe kind to your diving partners and do not shine the light intotheir faces.O-Ring SealThe O-ring and sealing surfaces must be kept clean and lubricatedwith silicone grease in order to maintain the watertight seal andsmooth rotation of the bezel. During cleaning remove the O-ringwith your fingers. Do not use tools which can damage the O-ringand sealing surfaces.Care and Maintenance• Keep area around the O-ring seal clean.• If the light floods, empty the contents immediately, rinse withfresh water and dry completely before reassembly.• To insure that active hydrogen removal catalyst is present in thelight, replace the reflector lamp if it gets wet.• Do not store batteries in the light for long periods of time. Theymay leak and damage the light.Underwater Kinetics products are engineered for maximum performance and durability. All products carrya Limited Lifetime Warranty to the original retail purchaser to be free from defective material andworkmanship under normal and intended use. In addition, the Underwater Kinetics Limited Warranty coversmaterials used in its products to the original purchaser, from the date of purchase, as follows: plastics for 10years; fabrics and rubber for 3 years; rechargeable batteries for 90 days; and lamps for 30 days (batteriesand lamps are not manufactured by Underwater Kinetics).In the event the original retail purchaser detects a defect in the material or workmanship, the product,along with proof of purchase date, should be returned to an authorized Underwater Kinetics dealer or directlyto Underwater Kinetics with the postage prepaid.
