FOCUS XC SERIES
AAPPTec’s Focus XC series of instruments are easy to use, fully
automated solid phase peptide synthesizers. 1 The Focus XC is
capable of simultaneous and parallel peptide synthesis. The powerful
combination of utilizing 1 to 6 reactors, 24 amino acids, up to 8 solvent/
reagent bottles, and versatile user-friendly software gives the Focus XC
unique abilities. Novice and expert chemists have virtually unlimited
synthesis options. 2 The Focus XC is specially designed for Fmoc and Boc
chemistries, but has the capability to be used for many other chemistries
(DNA, PNA, RNA). The Focus XC series is an excellent choice for
discovery research, synthetic methods, process development, and
production for phase I/II/III clinical trials.
Regardless of your research, the Focus XC is guaranteed to increase your
laboratory productivity.
Additional benefits of the Focus XC instruments:
• The solution for difficult peptide sequences
• The highest crude purity
• The widest scale range on the market
• Walk away, 24/7 worry-free operation
• Reliable, provides years of successful syntheses
• Quiet operation
• Robust, low maintenance
• Low operating costs
• Flexible, sophisticated software
• Reaction monitoring with system alerts
• Access to AAPPTec’s world class support.
With the Focus XC, AAPPTec advances its already successful line of
bench-top peptide synthesizers, which started in 1990 when the Model
90 revolutionized the peptide industry. After more than 20 years of
proven operation and continued improvements, AAPPTec’s bench-top
peptide synthesizers have become an industry standard for peptide
research and production.
Johnson & Johnson - “Very easy (dummy proof)
software, great RV-mixing, robust, easy to clean,
better than ABI, very good peptides, really likes
the scale up ability.”
2
Vanderbilt University - “User friendly, walk away
synthesizer, very easy software.”
HEATING OPTION
Moderate heating during coupling has proven to be very beneficial for
the synthesis of some peptides. Recently, conventional heating was
shown to be as effective as microwaves in peptide synthesis. 3 The Focus
XC has a heating option that allows the reaction vessel to be heated
during reactions: the heating module applies heat only during the steps
specified by the user thus eliminating unnecessary heating that can
damage heat sensitive sequences or sequence position.
SONICATION OPTION
Untrasound has been shown to accelerate reactions and can also yield
products not obtainable by purely thermal reactions. 4 Sonication has
proven to disrupt aggregation and accelerate diffusion of reagents into
the resin beads thus speeding up coupling reactions; particularly difficult
couplings. AAPPTec offers an optional sonication module for the Focus
XC which applies ultrasound to the reactions vessels at user-specified
intervals during the syntheses.
UV MONITORING OPTION
The UV monitoring option identifies difficult
coupling positions in real-time and makes
predefined adjustments to the synthesis
protocols to optimize coupling efficiency.
This minimizes deletion peptides that form
when deprotection reactions are slow and
the intermediate peptide-resin is not fully
deprotected before couplings – no more
failed syntheses due to unexpected slow
deprotections.
