<strong>Suggestions</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Authors</strong>General:The PKV Research Journal is published twice a year to promote the cause of research anddissem<strong>in</strong>ate the knowledge <strong>in</strong> the field of agricultural sciences. Subject matter should fall <strong>in</strong> thecategories of(i) Orig<strong>in</strong>al research articles(ii) Research notes and(iii) Review papers.Manuscript:i) It should be typed on full scape good quality, double sp<strong>ac</strong>ed, on one side of the page only,with sufficient marg<strong>in</strong>, 5 cm on the left side and 2.5 cm on e<strong>ac</strong>h of the rema<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g sides.ii) The author(s) may submit paper <strong>in</strong> duplicate. He may not type his name, designation and<strong>ac</strong>knowledgement on the first copy.iii) All sheets <strong>in</strong> the copy should be of one side only and should not ord<strong>in</strong>arily exceed 10 <strong>in</strong>numbers <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g tables.iv) Writ<strong>in</strong>g style should be simple, concise and precise. Presentation of article should have thecomponents <strong>in</strong> the follow<strong>in</strong>g sequence : Title, Name (s) of author(s), Foot Note, Abstr<strong>ac</strong>t,Introduction (without head<strong>in</strong>g), MATERIAL AND METHODS, RESULTS ANDDISCUSSION, ACKNOWLEDGEMENT if any and LITERATURE CITED.v) Format of Research note may be as per the latest issue. All calculations, tables, figures,names, quotations, citations, etc. should be carefully verified be<strong>for</strong>e submission.vi) The metric system of measurements should be followed and standard abbreviations be used.vii) The paper need necessarily to be <strong>ac</strong>companied by an undertak<strong>in</strong>g that it is not publishedearlier <strong>in</strong> any journal.viii) The author(s) are advised to adhere to the <strong>for</strong>mat of this journal strictly. In the event of notfollow<strong>in</strong>g the <strong>for</strong>mat, the paper(s) may not be attended to.Title: The title of the article should be short and precise and should be followed <strong>in</strong> the next l<strong>in</strong>e,by name(s) of author(s). Foot note on the first page should <strong>in</strong>clude the department(s) contribut<strong>in</strong>gthe article, designation and present address of author(s).Abstr<strong>ac</strong>t: Concise summation of f<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>gs not exceed<strong>in</strong>g 200 words should be written at thebeg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g of the papers. The abstr<strong>ac</strong>t should start with the objective. It should be <strong>in</strong>telligiblewithout reference to the orig<strong>in</strong>al paper. It should be written <strong>in</strong> such a way that will f<strong>ac</strong>ilitateabstr<strong>ac</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g of the paper <strong>in</strong> the world of abstr<strong>ac</strong>ts.


Table: Type e<strong>ac</strong>h table on a separate sheet. They should be numbered <strong>in</strong> Arabic numerals withtitle of the table <strong>in</strong> the same l<strong>in</strong>e. Table should be pl<strong>ac</strong>ed at the end of the manuscript, but itspl<strong>ac</strong>e <strong>in</strong> the text should be <strong>in</strong>dicated.Figures: Identify graphs, l<strong>in</strong>e draw<strong>in</strong>gs and photographs with consecutive arabic numbers as Fig.1, Fig. 2. Pl<strong>ac</strong>e figures after tables. Photographs must be clear, glossy pr<strong>in</strong>ts, orig<strong>in</strong>al graphs anddraw<strong>in</strong>g must be <strong>in</strong> Indian <strong>in</strong>k or equivalent on pla<strong>in</strong> white draw<strong>in</strong>g paper. Letter<strong>in</strong>g should belarge and bold enough to permit reduction. E<strong>ac</strong>h figure number should pl<strong>ac</strong>ed on the b<strong>ac</strong>k of e<strong>ac</strong>hfigure <strong>in</strong> pencil <strong>for</strong> identification.Nomenclature: The lat<strong>in</strong> b<strong>in</strong>omial or tr<strong>in</strong>omial and authority must be should <strong>for</strong> all plants,<strong>in</strong>sects and pathogens at first list<strong>in</strong>g either <strong>in</strong> the title or when first mentioned <strong>in</strong> the text. Cropvarieties (not experimental l<strong>in</strong>es and stra<strong>in</strong>s) should be identified by a s<strong>in</strong>gle quotation mark atfirst list<strong>in</strong>g only. Generic and specific names should be <strong>in</strong> italic e.g. Lycopersium esculentum MilMorgtobe.Reference: They should be double sp<strong>ac</strong>e throughout and arranged alphabetically <strong>ac</strong>cord<strong>in</strong>g toauthor’s names and should be pl<strong>ac</strong>ed under the head<strong>in</strong>g “Literature Cited” at the end of thearticle. E<strong>ac</strong>h reference should conta<strong>in</strong> the name of author with <strong>in</strong>itials, the year of publication,title of article, the abbreviated title of publication, volume and page e.g.Sarode, S.V. and U.S. Kulkarni, 1998. Sustanability of Helicoverpa armigera (Hubner) on weedparthen<strong>in</strong>um hysterophorous, Indian J. Entomol., 60(4): 421-422.Kawarkhe, V.J., R.N. Jane and Manisha Deshmukh, 2003.Effect of nitrogen and spec<strong>in</strong>g levels ongrowth and flower yield of Ch<strong>in</strong>a Aster, PKV Res. J., 27(2): 163-165.In the text, the reference should be <strong>in</strong>dicated by author’s name followed by year of publication.When more than one paper by the same author appears <strong>in</strong> a s<strong>in</strong>gle year they should bedist<strong>in</strong>guished as a, b, c,......Please refer to annexure of PKV Res. J.
