Sports FacilitiesNorth Wales Indoor Athletics CentreThe North Wales Indoor Athletics Centre is a flagship sportsfacility which was opened by Colin Jackson CBE in 2005. It isnot only available to our students but also to adults andchildren of all ages. The facility includes:Six lane 60m sprint trackLong & Triple jump facilityPole vault and high jump facilityThrower’s practice cage for discus, hammer and shotMulti sports hallThe specialist flooring, which is the first of its kind in the UK,not only accommodates all multi sports activities, but it is alsodurable enough to take 6mm spikes, which is essential forquality athletics training. Athletes can train all year round in asafe and controlled environment. We will offer a structuredprogramme of coaching for school children and supportinitiatives aimed at increasing participation.The flexibility of both halls allows the sports facilityto hold large competitions and events.StadiumThis excellent sports stadium includes a fully floodlit footballpitch, a national standard athletics facility and a 400 seatedstadium.It is the home of local teams 'Connahs Quay Nomads F.C' and'Deeside Athletics Club' who hold all their home fixtures atthe stadium and it has already successfully held County,National and International events.The facilities are available for group, club and individualbookings for events such as school sports days, footballtournaments, charity and fundraising events, or you can use itsimply for a brisk walk or jog around the synthetic track.Sports HallWithin our multi-sports centre, we offer badminton,basketball, circuit training, football, hockey, netball, racquetsports and volleyball. These facilities are used by studentsduring the day and are hired out by local clubs and groupsduring the evening and weekends. Toybox NurseryToybox NurseryToybox Nursery is a well-established private day nursery situated in the grounds of DeesideCollege in Connah’s Quay within easy reach of Deeside Industrial Park, Flint, Connah’sQuay, Shotton and Queensferry.The fully equipped nursery provides full and part-time places for both staff and students ofthe College plus members of the local community and is registered for 106 children frombirth to 5 years old. A dedicated team of qualified and experienced nursery nurses creates aloving and homely environment for the children.Toybox is registered with Care & Social Services Inspectorate for Wales(CSSIW), NE Wales Regional Office and is a member of the National DayNurseries Association and Wales Pre-School Playgroup Association (PPA)Opening hours are 8.00am - 5.45pm all year round, closing for a week at Christmas and forstatutory Bank Holidays.Each area within the nursery has a curriculum to follow, which includes personal and socialdevelopment, language and literacy, mathematics, physical and creative development.Toybox Nursery achieved an excellent ESTYN report which can be viewed on request.Time spent in the nursery will cover imaginative, creative, intellectual and physical play toenhance the development of each child. There are 42 single occupancy rooms with a largenumber having private en-suite facilities. These rooms whichare extremely spacious and of a high quality also have internetaccess.Each hostel block has kitchen facilities which are equippedwith kettle, toaster, fridge and microwave. There is also aGames Room which includes a flat/wide screen television,DVD/Video, pool table and table tennis table.Our centralised catering facility has recently been refurbishedand there are a variety of menu options available.The hostel is able to accommodate European and Internationalstudents and also school and college groups at certain times ofthe year. Additional facilities, to support a visit, are alsoavailable which includes excellent outdoor and indoor sportsfacilities and specialist curriculum facilities in such areas asaero-space engineering and land-based provision.Summer Holiday AccommodationAre you planning a visit to North Wales during the Summermonths and looking for good value accommodation?
