Our goal as an employer is to engage with and support ouremployees to achieve their maximum potential in a workplace that is free ofharassment, discrimination and barriers to their success.Major Areas of ResponsibilityUnder the direction of the Executive <strong>Director</strong>, the <strong>Director</strong> of the Evidence toAction project is responsible for managing all financial and human resourceaspects of the Evidence to Action project and for providing the strategic thinkingand policy analysis needed to carry out this project in a timely and successfulmanner.Summary of Duties:Provide support to and complete tasks as directed by the Executive<strong>Director</strong>;Coordinate and administer the Evidence to Action project and monitorPTMA and community initiatives in this area including the preparation ofany reports to funders;Provide direct supervision and support to all project staff;Prepare proposals and budgets in support of the Evidence to Actionproject;Provides support to the communications officer and the development ofkey messaging for the Evidence to Action project and throughout NWAC;Develop policies and guidelines for community engagement andcommunity development;Develop programming and education to assist families and communities;Make presentations to government committees and other bodies on theissue of violence against Aboriginal women and girls;


Prepare policy documents, briefing notes, backgrounders and speakingnotes:Prepare documentation, reports, public statements and other informationmaterials as needed to advance this work;Serve as spokesperson for NWAC, in the media, the public and withpolitical and other government officials on issues of violence, missing andmurdered Aboriginal women and justice and criminal justice issues whenrequested;Make public presentations at conferences and workshops both nationaland international.Qualifications:The candidate should possess an undergraduate university degree in thesocial/health/justice or related field or equivalent work experience;Bilingualism considered to be an asset.All interested applicants must submit a letter of interest, curriculum vitae and thenames and contact information of three references no later than May 31 at 1700hours EST to:Claudette Dumont-SmithExecutive <strong>Director</strong>,1 Nicholas Street, 9 th FloorOttawa, ON K1N 7B7Email: cdumontsmith@nwac.caApplicants must clearly show how they meet the qualification requirements of theposting.
