Parks Report – Consent Calendar, Item #3_ - Woodland

6. I hope everyone was able to visit the Yolo County Fair this past week and stopby the City’s booth. While I had little responsibility for setting up the Citybooth, I did arrange for and set up the landscape plant material for the booth.I also took one shift on Saturday evening as a staff person in the booth toanswer any questions the public had on the City’s storm drainage plans andfees. I also used my computer controlled lighting program for our ballfieldlights and had the field lighting at Buchignani Field come on/off during thefair days for traffic circulation and safety.7. The large trellis in front of the tennis courts at Beamer Park is being repaintedthis month. Also at Beamer, the area under the large oak trees willreceive a new layer of bark mulch to help keep weeds down and to improvethe environment around the root zones of these magnificent trees.8. Irrigation breaks have continued to plague the staff at various parks includinganother main line break at Crawford Park and two main line breaks atWoodside Park. At each occasion, the park watering system had to be shutdown for repairs, and then we try to catch up afterwards with extra wateringcycles.9. A community work day was held at Joseph Schneider Park this past monthwith folks from Bayside Church. They did a great job of helping us movenearly 100 yards of playground bark into the play area, raked leaves, andremoved weeds. The park looked a lot better when they were done and theplayground was a lot safer. Thanks to Bayside Church for the help!10. Park staff took another trip to Camp Packer Creek this past month andfinished up with the removal and chipping of several dead trees throughout thecamp.11. Playground woodchips were also delivered and installed at Traynham Parkand Klenhard Park.12. We finished up a series of swim meets at the Brooks Swim Center this pastmonth and now we get a break until fall. The maintenance staff did a greatjob at keeping the pool, deck and buildings in good shape for these hugeevents, and our new Pool Technician got broken in, too!2
