The Natural Heritage Trust, a<br />

Commonwealth Government agency,<br />

provides a range of support, including<br />

funds, education and skills development<br />

for landholders and community groups<br />

that want to participate in nature<br />

conservation. Two well known initiatives<br />

are <strong>the</strong> National Landcare Program and<br />

<strong>the</strong> Endangered Species Program.<br />

Lastly, tax incentives exist for<br />

landholders willing to set aside or donate<br />

a portion of <strong>the</strong>ir land for nature<br />

conservation. These incentives relate<br />

primarily to Income Tax and Capital<br />

Gains Tax. Rebates in relation to Local<br />

Council rates are also available.<br />
