The Canlas Family
In the spring of 1976, a young Noel Canlas was traveling to Tampa, Florida, for a job interview
when he stopped by Henderson to visit a friend. He never left. Instead of heading further south,
Dr. Canlas spent the next 35 years caring for the people of our community as a gastroenterologist.
Just a few years ago, Dr. Canlas brought both of his daughters back to Henderson to set up their
own physician practices.
Dr. Karen Canlas joined her father as a gastroenterologist. She is the only female GI physician in
the region and conducts advanced GI procedures learned during her Fellowship at Duke University.
Dr. Judith Canlas uses her skills to help patients recover from illness and injury as a Physiatrist, or
doctor of physical medicine and rehabilitation. Judith serves as the Medical Director for the
Methodist Hospital Therapy Services Department and has created an extensive women’s physical
health program for the benefit of the ladies in our community.
We are so thankful that the Canlas’ have dedicated their skills to increasing the wellness level of
our citizens. We are a better organization and community thanks to them.
