Parish OrganisationsJingle Bells for Christmas – Taney Bell RingersBells and Christmas are inseparable. Our Taney Bell Ringers playtheir special part in our Christmas Celebrations when on ChristmasEve and Christmas Day the old St. George’s Bells in the tower ofChrist Church, Taney ring out their call to worship and their messageof peace and goodwill. And for the eleventh year in their new home, they ring in a New Year 2011. Not only at Christmas, but everySunday in the year, our team of Bell Ringers gather in the RingingChamber up there in the tower to welcome us to worship. It is trulya joyful sound and is much appreciated by us all and not least byhappy young couples on their wedding day and by families left bereftas the mournful toll helps them in its comforting way bid farewell totheir loved ones. The Bell Ringers meet for practise every Monday evening 7.00pm to9.00pm. Practice time is happy and sociable and open to anyonewho wishes to learn the ancient art of campanology. Particularlywelcome are some young people who each transition year sign up tolearn and, who knows, become the Bell Ringers of the future. At their recent AGM the Taney Society of Change Ringers (that’s theirofficial title) reported an active year with visits from 5th and 6thclasses of Taney School, Bell Ringers from other churches in Irelandand summer visits from churches overseas.
