L1064 SeriesA commercial heritage.Initially designed for Alaskan fisherman, Luggersare well known by commercial and pleasurecraft operators for their long life andsmooth, quiet operation. This legacycontinues with the US EPA Tier IIcompliant Lugger L1064 line.Natural or turbo-aftercooled.The L1064D is a time tested diesel with naturalaspiration and a proven mechanical fuel injectionsystem. Producing 0.24 to 0.29 FWHP per cubicinch, it is built for the vessel owner who wantsan engine that operates under the lowest stresspossible. This makes it the ultimate main or wingengine for long range, full displacement vessels. The L1064A has a liquid cooled turbocharger, aftercooler and electronic fuel injection. Togetherthey increase the power up to 140 HP at a low 2400RPM. More power, but still it has a conservative0.42-0.51 FWHP to CID ratio. This makes it theright engine for semi-displacement trawlers andsmall work boats. Its in-line design makes it theperfect repower engine for older in-line six cylinderengines.Ironclad marinization. The Lugger 1064 (106 mm bore-4 cylinder),4.5 liter, diesels have heavy-duty tractor blocks. This high torque design provides a strongfoundation; but a marine engine is only as goodas its marinization. A Lugger’s marinization is castiron tough. The expansion tank and liquid-cooledexhaust manifold are cast iron. Some engines onlyuse bypass water to cool their manifolds. Luggerintegrates the two pass manifold into the coolingsystem main stream to assure even temperaturecontrol and to eliminate hot spots that can stressmetal components.Low rpm horses vs. Paper ponies.Light-duty, small-displacement diesels operateat speeds up to 4200 rpm. This means high pistonspeed and short life. Lugger power comes fromcubic inch displacement and long stroke design. With a maximum rpm of only 2400 or 2500 anda recommended cruise of 200 rpm less, a higherpercentage of the available horsepower is usable.Lower rpm also means less noise and wear, morecomplete fuel combustion and longer life.Wet liners protect your investment.Lugger cylinder liners are surrounded bycoolant for better heat dissipation. The linersare replaceable to reduce overhaul costs. Unlike“linerless” throwaways, a Lugger can be rebuilt inthe boat.Easy to live with.Low RPM Luggers are naturally quiet. No highRPM whine. Just a steady rhythm. A specialsilencer-fi lter reduces air intake noise. The castrocker arm cover reduces valve noise and trapscrankcase oil vapors to keep your engine roomclean. 1064s have two counter-rotating balancingshafts to provide smooth operation.Lower operating costs.Direct injection, long stroke and precise fuelmetering all add up to excellent fuel economy.HORSEPOWER6774*80*L1064DNaturally Aspirated*recreational vessels only115125140L1064ATurboAftercooledIf it isn’t there, it can’t break. That’s why the pipes, hoses, belts and gasketsthat cause problems on other engines have beenengineered away. This makes Luggers easy tomaintain too. Service points are on one side foreasy access and the in-line design gives you elbowroom in the engine room.Take power from both ends. The full line of options and accessories lets youdesign an engine that is custom built to match yourvessel’s needs. With an optional front power-takeoffyour Lugger can power your vessel’s hydraulicauxiliary systems. It’s more than an engine, yourL1064 is a total marine power system.Thorough testing.Every Lugger engine is thoroughly tested andquality controlled before it leaves our factory, toensure the reliability, durability and quality Luggersare known for.• White IMRON ®polyurethanepaint for protectionand servicevisibility.• Air fi ltersilencesintake noise.• USCGapproved fuelfi lter with ventand drain.• DC relaysand circuitbreaker.• Cast aluminum, rocker cover keepsnoise and crankcasevent oil vapor insidethe engine.• 12 or 24 voltbattery chargingalternator.• Large, castiron expansiontank.
