Diocesan Youth Leadership Camp
Diocese of Memphis
Thirty-Eight (38) youth from sixteen (16) parishes
attend the Leadership Camp 2011 in the Diocese
of Memphis. During the three-day event, the youth
focused on the call of baptism, communication
skills, group dynamics, decisionmaking, Mass
and the new liturgical norms, listening skills, and
defending the faith. These thirty-eight youth were
commissioned as TIMs (Teens in Ministry) at the
conclusion of the campus and became leaders in
their own parish. Thirty-One were able to serve at
the annual Fall Youth Gathering. They also helped
lead the first diocesan teen reconciliation service in
December 2011.

Teens Encounter Christ (TEC) is a powerful retreat
experience for young people. Teens witness their faith
to each other and come together
for days of prayer and reflection.
At the heart of the retreat, is
the witness talk both by teens
and adults. These talks call for
thoughtful preparation. Through
a series of eight (8) webinars,
Ron Reiter
the TEC Core Team can provide
training and support to teens and
adults as they prepare their witness
talks. These webinars improve the support available
to teens and adults as well as expand this type of
support to some of the rural parishes.
“This has really helped our ministry,” said
Ron Reiter, executive director for TEC.
“We can reach out to so many people
this way. We have learned how we can
upload the presentations to YouTube
making them even more accessible to the
TEC Community.”
