August F. Strate<br />
August F. Strate was born in Aug 1862 in Freel<strong>and</strong>ville, Indiana. He grew up on his families farm <strong>and</strong> married<br />
Elizabeth Bubenzer also of Indiana, October 19, 1892 when he was 19 years old. Six months later Wilbert was born.<br />
Elizabeth, or Lizzie as she was called, was 20 years old. Three years later Leona was born, followed by Aleda Elizabeth<br />
in July of 1899. Elizabeth developed T.B. <strong>and</strong> died in around 1904, leaving August to raise their three children. Aleda<br />
was only four years old.<br />
August soon remarried to 22 year old Martha Kirchoff of Indiana, in 1905. Three more girls were born to the new<br />
couple. Norma, Alene <strong>and</strong> Helena. August was widowed a second time between the years of 1913 <strong>and</strong> 1920, young<br />
Martha died. At the age of 55, August was raising his daughters <strong>and</strong> farming his l<strong>and</strong>. Leona, Alene <strong>and</strong> Helena were the<br />
last at home. By 1930, August was alone, at the age of 66 he retired <strong>and</strong> lived out his life on his farm. His death is<br />
Unkown.<br />
