Curriculum Vitae of Rohit Loomba, MD, MHScRESEARCH OUTREACH AND CREATIVITY• Founding director and PI of the San Diego Integrated NAFLD Research Consortium (SINC): TheSan Diego Integrated NAFLD Research Consortium was established by Dr. Loomba (seepublication no. 30) in 2011 with the goal of enhancing collaboration between doctors andworking groups interested in the research and care of patients with NAFLD. The consortiumincludes experts of fatty liver disease from 4 major medical centers in the San Diego regionincluding UCSD, Sharp Health Care, Kaiser Permanente, and Balboa Naval Medical Center.Experts from these sites work together on research to advance the understanding of NAFLD.• Research collaboration with Southwestern Oncology Group (SWOG), a National Cancer Institutesponsored research consortia, in understanding the burden of viral hepatitis in cancer patientsacross SWOG sites in the United States. Overall goal is to better define the epidemiology of viralhepatitis and risk of recurrence of hepatitis B and C and reducing liver related morbidity andmortality in this group of patients. 2010- presentCOMMUNITY SERVICE• Pacific Chapter of the American Liver Foundation: Annual Course of Liver Disease: Speaker• Pacific Chapter of the American Liver Foundation: Liver Half Marathon ParticipantsUNIVERSITY SERVICE2008-2009 Member, Research and Career Development Committee, Division of Gastroenterology,Department of Medicine2008-present Member, Research and Career Development Committee, Division of Gastroenterology,Department of Medicine2009–present Member, Gastroenterology fellowship candidate selection committee, Division ofGastroenterology, Department of Medicine2009-present Member, Intern selection committee, Department of Medicine2009-present Member, Physician-scientist training program candidate selection committee2009-present Member, Liver transplant selection committee, Center for Hepatobiliary and AbdominalTransplant, UCSD Medical Center2009-present Organizer: weekly hepatology journal club: a teaching conference for trainees and faculty(0.5 CME per meeting)2009-present Director, NAFLD Clinic, UCSD Medical Center2009-present Faculty mentor, Cardiovascular Epidemiology T32 Training Program (PI: MichaelCriqui, MD)2010-2011 Member, Hepatology Faculty Search Committee(s)2010 Member, Interview panel, GI Division Chief Search Committee2010 Member, Interview panel, Hepatology Chief Search Committee2010 Member, Interview panel, GI Division Faculty Search Committee2010-2011 Member, Hepatology Faculty Search Committee(s)2010-2011 Medical School Teaching: SOM-208: Organ Physiology GI: Wrote the power-pointslides for the liver part2010-2011 SP chair for medical students research projects2010-2011 ISP chair: CREST Program2010-presentReviewer of grant proposals: Intramural Clinical and Translation Research Institute(CTRI) pilot and feasibility grants.2010 GI grand rounds: Epidemiology of NAFLD2011-present Director, Liver epidemiology training program2011-present Research Mentor: Gastroenterology T32 training program (PI: Sheila Crowe, MD)Page 4 of 11
