Senior officialsassess servicedelivery in BCMMBy: Samkelo GqebaEducation department Acting Superintendent - General Mthunywa Ngozo engages with learners during the visit to VukuhambeSchool for the disabledThe delivery of quality public services inthe Metro came under the spotlight aftersenior government and municipal officialsvisited various public facilities in order to havefirst -hand experience of how they operate aspart of the Exco outreach Programme.Led by the Provincial Director General,Mbulelo Sogoni, Heads of various Departmentsand Municipal directors visited schools, old agehomes, hospitals and police stations aroundthe Metro.The main objectives of these visits were tounearth bottlenecks that hamper service deliveryand to find solutions to these challenges.Amongst institution visited included FrereHospital, Duncan Village Police station,Bhisho Hospital, Vuthondaba Primary school,Bongolethu High School, Silver Crown Old AgeHome and Vukuhambe special School.These facilities were identified by a task teamcomprises of officials from provincial governmentdepartments and <strong>Buffalo</strong> <strong>City</strong> Metro; and itscriteria included looking at the institution asbest practice site. In addition, institutions facedwith wide range of service delivery challengeswere automatically selected for the visit.Education department Acting Superintendent-General Mthunywa Ngozo accompanied byofficials from his department and the Officeof the Premier visited Vukuhambe School forthe disabled in Mdantsane to interact with theschool management, teachers and schoolgoverning body. During the visit, teachersand school governing body members andgovernment officials discussed best ways toenhance the delivery of quality education in theschool in line with government’s programme ofimproving learning and teaching standards.Ngozo made a call to the stakeholders towork together in tackling the challenges thatare facing the School.
