I have been using my friend’smum’s car, which is an automatic andis much easier to drive.I have even ventured into the city anddealt with roundabouts and trafficlights, which I am a bit scared of in themanual in case I stall.But I still want to pass my test in amanual. Driving in the rain is stillscary. It started spitting the other dayso I just pulled over and let mum drive.Driving at night is not so bad. I’ve beenout at dusk quite often.The biggest problem is rememberingwhich is high beam and which is low.Three-point turns are easy, I havedone a lot in the country roads butreverse parking is harder.My longest drive was two hours. Idrove from Latrobe to Burnie and backagain. I still aim to drive as often aspossible, but it is sometimes hard to fitit in around work and school.Devonport Times October 2007 Page 17
