<strong>CRISIS</strong> <strong>INTERVENTION</strong> <strong>PLAN</strong><strong>Union</strong> R-<strong>XI</strong> <strong>District</strong>(Note: each building should make sure building maps are available)PURPOSE: 1. To respond to the trauma created by a death or crisis which has amajor impact on the school population in the <strong>Union</strong> R-<strong>XI</strong> <strong>School</strong><strong>District</strong>.2. To acquaint all facilitators with the structure and purpose of eachstep of the plan (administrators, faculty, staff, etc.)3. To react appropriately to the needs of everyone.4. To maintain structure and control.STEP 1Counselors caucus with the administrator(s) of affected building for the purpose of:1. establishing guidelines unique to the situation2. designating locations and uses of facilities3. appointing an investigator/media spokesperson and assist with parentnotification4. identifying populations of need-to-know and most affected people5. reviewing procedure for small groups6. establishing small group assignments7. designating a lead contact person8. designating a central crisis location where the lead contact personwill process information, etc.9. contacting outside district counselors and agencies, if needed.STEP 2Meet with faculty (briefing of facts)
