What the <strong>Council</strong> DoesARGYLL AND BUTE COUNCIL PRESENTLY PROVIDES AND ENABLES PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND SPORT THROUGH A WIDE RANGE OF DIRECTSERVICES, PARTNERSHIP WORKING AND SUPPORT TO EXTERNAL PROVIDERS, COMMUNITY GROUPS AND VOLUNTARY SECTORORGANISATIONS.In the provision of the whole range of services, activities <strong>and</strong> community involvement undertaken by the <strong>Council</strong> for sport <strong>and</strong> leisure serviceswe work in partnership with others, with the aim of:• Obtaining best value for the resources provided• Enhancing the quality of the services provided• Accessing external funding• Sharing experience <strong>and</strong> best practice• Enabling activity the <strong>Council</strong> does not provide• Bringing together key agencies to meet shared objectivesPartnerships have been formed with a wide range of local <strong>and</strong> national organisations, including:‣ sportscotl<strong>and</strong>‣ Local sports clubs‣ Community Enterprise facilities‣ NHS Highl<strong>and</strong>‣ National Governing Bodies of <strong>Sport</strong>‣ Forest Enterprise‣ Outdoor <strong>Activity</strong> Centres‣ Scottish Natural Heritage‣ Scottish Government‣ StramashDetail of all the sport <strong>and</strong> physical activities provided by Community Services – Leisure <strong>and</strong> Youth Services which includes Active Schools, <strong>Sport</strong>Development <strong>and</strong> Leisure Services is contained in the annual reports <strong>and</strong> service plans for each area of work. In addition to this other serviceswithin the <strong>Council</strong> <strong>and</strong> the wider community provide an extensive range of sport <strong>and</strong> physical activity opportunities which greatly enhance thewell being of all of our citizens.July 31, 2012
