Ignitionsystem production began in 1966 with theAltronic I for one-cylinder oil pumpjack engines.The ignition line was later extendedto four variations covering all stationaryengines from 10 to 10,000 horsepower.The Altronic digital instrument line beganin the late 1970’s with the industry’s firstdigital annunciator, which replaced up to32 electromechanical relays as indicatorsof alarms on gas compressors. This linenow includes tachometers, hourmeters,pyrometers, and microprocessor-basedinstruments for monitoring pressures,temperatures, speed, vibration, and ignitiontiming.In the mid-1980’s, Altronic introducedignition systems based on digital circuits.These provided greater timing accuracy,the ability to change ignition timing electronically,and useful diagnostic informationfor the engine operator. Today, Altronicdigital ignition systems are used by mostmajor OEM gas engine manufacturers.Altronic is pioneering the next leap intechnology for the stationary industrialengine market with the Directed EnergyIgnition System (DEIS). The DEIS allowscomplete control over the spark characteristicsincluding duration and energy,and provides the ability to control thesecondary current profile.
