Each kit consists of a bolt, spacer, and limiter. The flat faces of thelimiter are stamped with a number that reads valve size, class rating, and percentage. For example, 2-300-75 is for a 2" valve, Class 300, and a reduction down to 75%of the full-open capacity. Capacity Limiters should not be used with 2" reducedcapacity cages.AFV Capacity LimitersValve SizePercent ofFull-Open Capacity Class 300 Part Number Class 600 Part Number2" 50% 74075G036 74075G0362" 75% 74075G041 74075G0413" 50% 74075G055 N/A3" 75% 74075G060 N/A4" 50% 74075G074 74075G0934" 75% 74075G079 74075G0986" 50% 74075G112 N/A6" 75% 74075G117 74075G124Centering TubesAligns the Axial Flow Valve to the pipe line centers during installation.Valve Size Quantity Part Number12" 2 73552P0013" 2 73552P0024" 2 73552P0036" 2 73552P0041 Centering Tubes8" 2 73552P00512" 2 73552P007Flange Separator (300 Series Only):Used to jack the flanges apart and relieve pipe strain to facilitate removaland replacement. This results ina higher flow through the downstreambleed thereby reducing the controlpressure on the outside of the sleeve.Inlet pressure is now much greaterthan the control pressure and the AxialFlow Valve opens wider to restoredownstream pressure.Pressure ReliefInlet (P 1) Outlet (P 2)67Pressure ReliefThe pilot remains closed until the linepressure becomes higher than the setpressure of the pilot. The pilot opensand allows flow through the downstreambleed reducing the control pressure onthe outside of the sleeve. Line pressureis now greater than the control pressureresulting in the Axial Flow Valve openingand releasing the excess line pressureto atmosphere.2 31546Two StagePressure ReductionAny application requiring a pressuredrop greater than the maximumdifferential rating across a single AxialFlow Valve can be accomplished througha two stage pressure reduction. The firststage reduces the outlet pressure to anacceptable intermediate pressure. Thenthe second stage reduces to the finaldesired outlet pressure. This allows bothAxial Flow Valves to be sized within theirmaximum differential ratings. The outletpressure can even be reduced to inchesW.C. if necessary. Two Stage Pressure Reduction1232344Inlet (P 1)5Intermediate6 Pressure65Outlet (P 2)1 Pilot Regulator2 Control Pressure3 Downstream Bleed4 Inlet Pressure5 Sense Line6 Axial Flow Valve7 Relief Vent8 Needle Valve9 Inlet Supply10 Plug11 Pilot Regulator (Override)

As long as thedownstream pressure is above the setpressure, the pilot remains open. Thisresults in flow through the downstreambleed reducing the control pressureon the outside of the sleeve. Since theInlet pressure is greater than the controlpressure, the Axial Flow Valve remainsfully open. If the downstream pressuredecreases below the set pressure, thepilot closes, and the inlet and controlpressure equalize and close the AxialFlow Valve. The needle valve is used toreset the system. Opening the needlevalve allows flow through downstreambleed (pilot bypass) reducing the controlpressure on the outside of the sleeve.Inlet pressure is now much greater thanthe control pressure and the Axial FlowValve fully opens. Once the downstreamis pressurized, close the needle valve.4910Inlet (P 1) IntermediateOutlet (P 2)6 Pressure6Two Stage Pressure Reductionwith Monitor Override1104 45Inlet (P 1) IntermediateOutlet (P 2)6 Pressure61133235155Worker/MonitorDuring normal operation, a single AxialFlow Valve (the worker) is responsiblefor the pressure reduction. Another AxialFlow Valve (the monitor) is installed inseries either upstream or downstreamof the “worker”. The monitor is set at apressure slightly higher than the workerand is always fully open. If a malfunctionoccurs with the worker, the outletpressure will increase to the monitor’sset pressure and the monitor will assumecontrol. The roles of the worker andmonitor can be reversed by simplyresetting their pilot’s set pressure. Two Stage PressureReduction withMonitor OverrideTwo Axial Flow Valves are used to performthe pressure reduction. However, theAxial Flow Valves need to be sized so thateither one can handle the entire pressuredrop. If a malfunction occurs in the firststage, the second stage will be able tohandle the entire pressure drop. If thesecond stage malfunctions, downstreampressure will increase until it becomeshigher than the set pressure of theoverride pilot. The override pilot assumescontrol of the first stage and is able tohandle the entire pressure drop.
