Air Traffic Services for aircraft flying at and above FL 55in the block of oceanic airspace to the south-west ofIreland known as the Shannon Oceanic Transition Areaenclosed by the following co-ordinates: 51N 15W, 51N 8W,48 30N 8W, 49N 15W, 51N 15W - see attached map - will beprovided by the Air Traffic Control Centre at Shannon inIreland , or by such other Air Traffic Control Centre(s) inIreland as may from time to time be nominated for that1 Came into force on 23 April 1990, in accordance with the provisions of the said letters.2 See p. 86 of this volume.Vol. 1689, 1-29126

The airspace in question will remain part of the ShanwickOceanic Airspace. While Air Traffic Services in theShannon Oceanic Transition Area airspace are provided byShannon Air Traffic Control Centre or other nominated AirTraffic Control Centre in Ireland, domestic separationcriteria may be applied.3. The provision of Air Traffic Services within the ShannonOceanic Transition Area airspace will revert to thePrestwick Oceanic Area Control Centre if for any reasonShannon Air Traffic Control Centre or other nominated AirTraffic Control Centre in Ireland is unable to provide suchservices.4. Prestwick Oceanic Area Control Centre will retain full andfinal responsibility for the approval of all militaryairspace reservations and exercises within the ShannonOceanic Transition Area airspace.5. Shannon Air Traffic Control Centre will be informed of allmilitary reservations within the Shannon Oceanic TransitionArea airspace.6. When required, Shannon Air Traffic Control Centre will keepPrestwick Oceanic Area Control Centre informed of theflight details of all aircraft within the Shannon OceanicTransition Area which are not otherwise known to PrestwickOceanic Area Control Centre.7. Alerting service for aircraft flying in the Shannon OceanicTransition Area airspace will be provided by the AirTraffic Control Centre at Shannon in Ireland or by suchother Air Traffic Control Centre as may from time to timebe nominated for that purpose by the appropriate Ministerof the Government of Ireland.Vol. 1689, 1-29126
