ReviewCrohn’s DiseaseConclusionCrohn’s disease results in significant morbiditywith potential life-threatening sequelae.Conventional treatments have been only partiallysuccessful in curbing acute flare-ups and extendingremission. When these drugs fail, surgical interventionis often employed. Surgery removeslocalized inflammation but does nothing to addressthe causes of CD, including abnormal gut immunity, increased intestinal permeability, systemicinflammation, and deranged colonic milieu, or thenutrient deficiencies associated with the disease.Natural therapeutics in the form of dietary modification, nutrient repletion, probiotics, omega-3fatty acids, antioxidants, anti-inflammatory botanicals, and other nutrients can provide benefit inbringing balance to a severely imbalanced system.References1.
