<strong>RECRUITMENT</strong> &<strong>INTERNATIONAL</strong> <strong>OFFICE</strong><strong>JOB</strong> <strong>DESCRIPTION</strong>Job Title<strong>INTERNATIONAL</strong> <strong>OFFICE</strong>R (INDIA)Department/DivisionFaculty/Divisionof AIMSReporting To<strong>RECRUITMENT</strong> & <strong>INTERNATIONAL</strong> <strong>OFFICE</strong> (RIO):<strong>INTERNATIONAL</strong> <strong>RECRUITMENT</strong>ACADEMIC SUPPORTSENIOR <strong>INTERNATIONAL</strong> <strong>OFFICE</strong>RJob PurposeTo work directly with the Senior International Officer (Eurasia & South Asia) in meeting institutionaland College targets in relation to the University’s International Recruitment strategy and agreed keyperformance indicators (KPIs)To contribute to the recruitment of increased numbers of full-time undergraduate students, andpostgraduate students on taught and research programmes from the South Asia Region to theUniversity of Glasgow.To facilitate the development and maintenance of priority partnerships / collaborations with key HigherEducation Institutions, high schools , government agencies and other contacts within and out theUniversity in line with University of Glasgow international strategy.To help promote and build the profile of the University of Glasgow in South Asia.Main Duties1. To assist the Senior International Officer with the strategic development and operationalmanagement of Glasgow’s promotional and student recruitment activities in South Asia,contributing to forecasting and meeting overall institutional targets, and inputting to the productionof market plans, regional briefings and other market / country specific briefing papers. Regionalmarket responsibility will be South Asian, but it may be necessary for the postholder to coverevents in neighbouring regions or countries.2. To travel throughout the region to represent the University at education fairs and otherrecruitment events and liaise with key partners and facilitators.3. To coordinate visits to the region by other members of University of Glasgow staff.4. To work with colleagues in RIO to improve information and the service provided to internationalapplicants and to increase the uptake of offers for all levels of study by introducing relevantconversion activity. This will include the development of printed and online marketing materials inconjunction with the Senior International Officer, Recruitment Marketing, and CorporateCommunications.5. To conduct market research and assist in the development of admissions and other policieswhere applicable to the South Asia market.6. To conduct market research and assist in the development of institutional partnerships, to liaisewith existing partnerships, and with other relevant education institutions, embassies, consulates,industry and sponsorship bodies, including negotiation of agreements and contract terms onbehalf of the University of Glasgow where appropriate.


• Knowledge of the UK HE sector, including recruitment processes and infrastructure• Demonstrable success in recruitment, marketing or PR.• Market development and relationship management• Event attendance and presenting to an audience• Experience of complex administration within a pressurised working environment.• Experience of managing and processing data.• Lead or initiate projects with measurable outcomes beyond own teamExperience – Desirable• At least 2 years experience of student recruitment in an HE institution.• Budget management• Travel related work experienceJob FeaturesPlanning and Organising• Planning for recruitment visits throughout the region including travel and appointmentschedules for the International Officer themselves, the Senior International Officer, GlasgowbasedInternational Officers, and International Dean• The ability to adapt and change plans at short notice according to unanticipatedcircumstances• Planning appropriate visit schedules for inward visitors to the University and outward visits ofacademic staff to ensure goals of visitors and university staff are achieved• Ensuring that follow-up work to overseas recruitment visits is carried out in a timely mannerDecision Making• Responding appropriately to enquiries from potential students, overseas agents and partnerinstitutions.• Assessment of student qualifications to agreed entry standards where appropriateInternal / External Relationships• Liaising with a wide range of people including: departmental colleagues; schools and colleges;service department staff; current and prospective students; external organisations such asembassies; partner institutions; alumni; sponsors and the University’s agent network.Problem Solving• First point of contact for a wide range of enquiries• Act as mediator between educational agents and academic and administrative colleagues
