2 | MIC Series 550 Cameraconstruction is protected from corrosion by twodifferent processes: first, the cameras receive acoating of Alodine 5200, a chromate-free conversioncoating of aluminum that is used in the aerospace anddefense industries where a protective layer is requiredto improve corrosion resistance. Second, they receivea robust, powder coat layer of paint.Various mounting options, including on-site cantingThe MIC Series 550 camera features twist-lock on-sitecanting functionality. This allows the camera to beinstalled upright, inverted, or canted (at a 45º angle)to achieve the perfect field of view. No matter theinstallation position, the camera will operatefaultlessly.Integrated wiperRegardless of the weather, the MIC Series 550 camerais able to capture the highest possible quality image allyear long, thanks to its integrated, long-life siliconewiper.Multi-protocol operationCompatible with a multitude of protocols, includingBosch “Biphase (OSRD)” and “Bilinx,” Pelco “P” and“D,” and Forward Vision, the MIC Series 550 cameraintegrates seamlessly with existing security systems.Applications:• General CCTV• Town centers• ANPR systems• Vandalism prone areas• Extreme environments• Rapid deployment• High security• Prestigious developments• Broadcast• ArchitecturalFunctionsHigh-performance PTZ day/night camerasImage control and quality are integral aspects of anyPTZ camera, and the MIC Series 550 camera delivers. The camera is available with a choice of 28X or theindustry-leading 36X optical zoom lens, and offers afull 12X digital zoom. Both camera options provide 550TVL of horizontal resolution for outstanding clarity andimage detail. The cameras also incorporate technologythat dramatically improves the dynamic range by 128times. Also known as Wide Dynamic Range (WDR), itresults in clear image reproduction in extreme highcontrastenvironments. The AutoScaling (proportionalzoom) and AutoPivot (automatically rotates and flipsthe camera) features ensure optimal control.Day/night capabilities and outstanding sensitivity makethe MIC Series 550 cameras exceptional performers inall lighting conditions. In low light, these camerasautomatically switch from color to monochrome byremoving the IR filter to boost sensitivity, whilemaintaining superior image quality. For operation inthe darkest conditions, the SensUp control featureautomatically reduces the shutter speed to as little asone second. This increases sensitivity by more than 50times.In addition to low light applications, the camera is alsoan exceptional performer when viewing under asodium vapor lamp (for example, a street lamp ortunnel lamp). Images under these conditions normallyhave a yellowish tint, so the MIC Series 550 cameraautomatically compensates for the light from a sodiumvapor lamp to restore objects to their original color. With super-quick, 120°/60° per-second pan/tiltspeeds, the MIC Series 550 camera outperforms othercameras in its class. The camera supports 99 prepositionsand two styles of Guard Tours: Preset andRecord/Playback. The preset tour has capability for upto 99 pre-positions with a configurable dwell timebetween pre-positions, and can be customized as tothe order and frequency each preset is visited. Thecamera also provides support for two recorded tours, which have a combined duration of 15 minutes ofmovements. These are recorded macros of anoperator’s movements, including pan, tilt, and zoomactivities, and can be played back in a continuousmanner.Superior privacy maskingThe MIC Series 550 camera allows for a total of 24individual privacy masks, with up to eight displayed inthe same scene. Unlike conventional privacy masks, these can be programmed with three, four, or evenfive corners each to cover more complex shapes. Eachmask changes size and shape smoothly and quickly, ensuring that the covered object cannot be seen. Eachmask can appear in black, white, or blurred. Blurred isuseful when privacy is an issue, but determining thepresence of motion is still required.Image StabilizationAs PTZ cameras continue to increase their opticalzoom capabilities, image stabilization becomes criticalto eliminate movement caused by unstable cameramounts. A mere quarter-inch of movement of thecamera mount can shift the field of view by more than6 m (20 feet) when the camera is zoomed to a highvalue. This can render images unusable. Imagestabilization algorithms included with the MIC Series550 camera reduces camera shake in both the verticaland horizontal axis, resulting in exceptional imageclarity (pixel displacement up to +/- 10% forfrequencies up to 10 Hz). Bosch’s unique imagestabilization solution does not reduce camerasensitivity, unlike competitive systems.Ease of installation and servicingBosch’s innovative software, the Configuration Tool forImaging Devices (CTFID), allows technicians oroperators to control the PTZ, change camera settings, and even update firmware from remote locationswithout need for additional wiring.
