Enclosed is your <strong>Results</strong> Notice (RN) for the <strong>2013</strong> <strong>HKDSE</strong> <strong>Examination</strong>. You can use the same loginpassword for registration to view your results from the <strong>Results</strong> Dissemination System <strong>of</strong> the <strong>HKDSE</strong><strong>Examination</strong> Online Services at https://www.hkdse.hkeaa.edu.hk from 7:00 am on 15 July <strong>2013</strong> till 3September <strong>2013</strong>. If you forgot your login password, you may click the “Forgot Login Password” buttonon the login page <strong>of</strong> the <strong>HKDSE</strong> <strong>Examination</strong> Online Services. The system will then send a new loginpassword to your designated email address. You should contact the Public <strong>Examination</strong>s InformationCentre (PEIC) (Telephone No. 3628 8860) if you do not receive the email.(Note: <strong>Release</strong> <strong>of</strong> results via Short Message Service (SMS) will not be provided to c<strong>and</strong>idates.)For Category C Subjects (Other Languages – June <strong>2013</strong> Series)2. The results for Category C (Other Languages - June <strong>2013</strong> series) subjects will be released on Sunday, 21July <strong>2013</strong>. C<strong>and</strong>idates who have registered for Category C Subjects (June <strong>2013</strong> series) examination mayview their results through the same online service from 8:30 am on Sunday, 21 July <strong>2013</strong>. The onlineresults enquiry service will be provided till 3 September <strong>2013</strong> (Tuesday). C<strong>and</strong>idates will receive their<strong>Results</strong> Notices by mail on 22 July <strong>2013</strong> (Monday).3. The results <strong>of</strong> the <strong>HKDSE</strong> <strong>Examination</strong> are reported in the following manner:(a)St<strong>and</strong>ards-referenced reporting is adopted for Category A subjects. C<strong>and</strong>idates’ performance in eachsubject is reported with reference to a set <strong>of</strong> level descriptors for that subject. There are five levels <strong>of</strong>performance (1, 2, 3, 4, 5), with Level 1 being the lowest <strong>and</strong> Level 5 being the highest. To giverecognition to outst<strong>and</strong>ing c<strong>and</strong>idates, top c<strong>and</strong>idates within Level 5 are awarded Level 5* <strong>and</strong> Level5** as appropriate. Achievements below Level 1 are designated as UNCL.For the subjects <strong>of</strong> Chinese Language, English Language <strong>and</strong> Combined Science, the componentresults, ranging from Level 5** to Level 1, are also reported. The subject <strong>of</strong> Mathematics comprisestwo parts: the Compulsory Part <strong>and</strong> the Extended Part. C<strong>and</strong>idates may choose to take theCompulsory Part only or the Compulsory part plus one <strong>of</strong> the modules <strong>of</strong> the Extended Part.C<strong>and</strong>idates’ results in the Compulsory Part <strong>and</strong> the Extended Part are reported separately.(b)(c)The results <strong>of</strong> Category B subjects are reported as “Attained” <strong>and</strong> “Attained with Distinction”.Category C subjects are examined using the Advanced Subsidiary (AS) level question papers fromCambridge International <strong>Examination</strong>s (CIE). The results <strong>of</strong> Category C subjects are recorded in fivegrades (a-e), with grade e being the lowest <strong>and</strong> grade a being the highest. Achievements below gradee are designed as UNGR. A separate speaking endorsement grade (With Distinction / Merit / Pass inSpeaking) is also reported for c<strong>and</strong>idates who satisfy the conditions as stated in the syllabus.Achievement below ‘Pass in Speaking’ is not recorded.1


(d)Subjects with UNCL / unattained / UNGR results will only appear on the <strong>Results</strong> Notice <strong>and</strong> will notbe recorded on the certificate.4. Private c<strong>and</strong>idates who have been awarded levels or grades in any subjects will receive a certificate, whichwill be sent to them by registered mail by the end <strong>of</strong> October this year. C<strong>and</strong>idates who have not receivedtheir certificates by 31 October <strong>2013</strong> may enquire with the PEIC. To avoid non-delivery <strong>of</strong> thecertificates, c<strong>and</strong>idates should login to the Registration System to update the correspondence addressbefore 31 August <strong>2013</strong>. After the above said date, c<strong>and</strong>idates are required to inform the Authority inwriting as soon as possible if they wish to update their correspondence address.Application for Rechecking <strong>and</strong> Remarking <strong>of</strong> <strong>Results</strong>5. C<strong>and</strong>idates may apply for rechecking <strong>and</strong>/or remarking for up to a total <strong>of</strong> four subjects in CategoriesA, B or C (November 2012 series).(a)For Category A subjects, applications for remarking <strong>of</strong> Chinese Language, English Language <strong>and</strong>Combined Science may be made on a subject or component basis. For applications on a componentbasis in any <strong>of</strong> these three subjects, the scripts <strong>and</strong> score sheets <strong>of</strong> other components <strong>of</strong> that subjectwill also be re-checked for technical errors. Remarking for one or more components <strong>of</strong> a subject iscounted as one subject. For Mathematics, applications can be made for remarking either theCompulsory Part or Extended Part, or both (if applicable), as a single subject. Applications forrechecking only <strong>and</strong> for remarking <strong>of</strong> all other subjects are processed on a subject basis only.Note: Remarking <strong>of</strong> Chinese Language <strong>and</strong> English Language on a subject basis includes thewritten papers only. Applications for the remarking <strong>of</strong> the video-recorded speakingcomponent have to be made separately.(b)(c)Remarking is not available for Category B subjects, papers under the School-based Assessmentscheme, multiple-choice papers, practical papers <strong>of</strong> Category A subjects; <strong>and</strong> the Speakingcomponent <strong>of</strong> Category C subjects.Requests for rechecking <strong>and</strong> / or remarking for more than four subjects will only be considered if thereare extenuating circumstances supported by documentary evidence. Such requests must be submittedin writing to the HKEAA within the stipulated application period. C<strong>and</strong>idates are advised toprioritise their choices in order to submit the first four subjects for rechecking <strong>and</strong> / or remarking viathe Rechecking <strong>and</strong> Remarking application (RRA) system within the application period. Theadditional subjects for rechecking <strong>and</strong> / or remarking request will be considered by the HKEAAseparately.6. Applications for rechecking <strong>and</strong> / or remarking from private c<strong>and</strong>idates may be accepted provided that theyare submitted in accordance with the following procedures:(a)For Categories A & B subjects, applications must be submitted via the Rechecking <strong>and</strong> Remarking(RRA) System at the Online Services (https://www.hkdse.hkeaa.edu.hk) between 15 <strong>and</strong> 20 July<strong>2013</strong>. Postal applications are NOT accepted. An acknowledgement email with the applicationdetails will be sent to your designated email address after the application is successfully submitted.The User Guide <strong>and</strong> Online Demonstration for the Rechecking <strong>and</strong> Remarking System have beenuploaded to the Online Services.(Note: If you need to update your email address, please submit the amendments via the ApplicationDetails in the RRA system directly.)(b)You may choose to pay the application fees online by credit card (VISA/MasterCard) or download adem<strong>and</strong> note to settle the payment at any 7-Eleven stores in Hong Kong. The application fees shouldbe paid within 3 calendar days after submission <strong>of</strong> application. If you choose to pay the fees onlineby credit card, the System will connect you to the Credit Card system instantly after your application issubmitted. Should c<strong>and</strong>idates fail to pay before the deadline, their applications will be accepted2


subject to a late payment fee <strong>of</strong> $226 in addition to the application fees, which must be settled in fullby cash or through EPS at the HKEAA Southorn Centre <strong>of</strong>fice on or before 5:00 pm on 26 July <strong>2013</strong>;otherwise their applications will not be processed.(c)Applications for rechecking <strong>and</strong> / or remarking for Category C (June <strong>2013</strong> series) subjects will beaccepted from 22 July to 26 July <strong>2013</strong>. C<strong>and</strong>idates should submit their applications together withthe relevant documents (see paragraph 8) to the HKEAA at 12/F, Southorn Centre, 130 HennessyRoad, Wan Chai, Hong Kong within the application period. C<strong>and</strong>idates can settle the payment incash or through EPS at the HKEAA Southorn Centre <strong>of</strong>fice. Online submission will not be available.The release <strong>of</strong> rechecking <strong>and</strong> remarking results for Category C (June <strong>2013</strong> series) subjects will beconfirmed by Cambridge International <strong>Examination</strong>s (CIE).7.For c<strong>and</strong>idates with substantiated financial difficulties <strong>and</strong> receiving financial aid, the HKEAA mayconsider waiving part <strong>of</strong> the rechecking / remarking fees on a case by case basis. The application form forfee waiver may be downloaded from the Online Services (Login Æ Rechecking & Remarking) from 15July <strong>2013</strong>. Duly completed application forms together with supporting documents should be submitted tothe HKEAA at 12/F, Southorn Centre, 130 Hennessy Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong within theapplication period for rechecking / remarking.Note: C<strong>and</strong>idates applying for fee waiver are required to settle the full amount <strong>of</strong> the rechecking <strong>and</strong>remarking fees by the specified deadline as printed on their dem<strong>and</strong> notes, otherwise theirapplications will not be processed. If the application for fee wavier is subsequently approved, refund<strong>of</strong> the fees will be made in early September <strong>2013</strong>.8.If you have submitted an application for rechecking <strong>and</strong> / or remarking, a subsequent request to add, deletesubject(s) / component(s) or change from rechecking to remarking or vice versa before the applicationdeadline is subject to the approval <strong>of</strong> the Authority. The change cannot be processed via the OnlineServices. You have to complete an application form <strong>and</strong> submit it in person (or through a representative)on or before 12:00 noon on Saturday, 20 July <strong>2013</strong> to the HKEAA <strong>of</strong>fice at 12/F, Southorn Centre, 130Hennessy Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong together with the following documents. Private c<strong>and</strong>idates may view their results through theOnline Services by using the same login password for viewing their examination results online from 8:30am on 13 August <strong>2013</strong> till 3 September <strong>2013</strong> (Tuesday). The release <strong>of</strong> rechecking <strong>and</strong> remarking resultsfor Category C (June <strong>2013</strong> series) subjects will be confirmed by Cambridge International <strong>Examination</strong>s(CIE).Note: The results <strong>of</strong> rechecking <strong>and</strong> remarking will be mailed to private c<strong>and</strong>idate’s designatedcorrespondence address. To update the correspondence address, please login to the RegistrationSystem to make the amendments before 6 August <strong>2013</strong>.Application for Appeal Review11. The Authority has established an independent Appeal Review Committee to provide a mechanism toreview the decisions <strong>of</strong> the Public <strong>Examination</strong>s Board on examination irregularities, to review the process<strong>of</strong> rechecking <strong>and</strong> remarking or to review the marking <strong>of</strong> scripts via Data Access Request. Details aregiven in “Section E <strong>Examination</strong> <strong>Results</strong>” <strong>of</strong> the H<strong>and</strong>book for C<strong>and</strong>idates.
