The amounts shown in this documentrepresent fees/deposits as currently approved. However, all fees/deposits are subject to change, may beadjusted at a future date.A. On Joining the School:There are four different one-time charges to be paid on joining in any year-group. All fees quoted arebased on per child.1. Application fee due with application and non refundable. RM3502. C. School Building Fund (SBF) contributions <strong>of</strong> RM1,000 per year will be takenfrom this deposit over a maximum period <strong>of</strong> 3 years. The balance <strong>of</strong> RM3,000 will be refunded uponleaving Uplands.For new students entering Uplands from <strong>Year</strong>s 7 to 11, SBF contributions <strong>of</strong> RM1,200 will be taken fromthe deposit over a maximum period <strong>of</strong> 5 years.There is no contribution to the SBF from the deposits <strong>of</strong> students entering <strong>Year</strong>s 12 or 13.Upon leaving Uplands, the contribution to the SBF will be calculated up to the last completed term.Any balance will be refunded to the paying authority when the student leaves Uplands, after deductingany amounts still owing to the School.Making Payment:Payment can be made by:1. All payments must be made in Ringgit Malaysia, and all bankcharges are the responsibility <strong>of</strong> the paying authority.


Other <strong>Fees</strong> & Charges:1. Personal Accident Insurance – compulsory <strong>for</strong> all students (currently RM40 / year <strong>for</strong> each child).2. Public Examination <strong>Fees</strong> – payable <strong>for</strong> students who take external examinations in <strong>Year</strong>s 11 and 13and determined by the level <strong>of</strong> charges <strong>of</strong> each examination board.3. Textbooks – the cost <strong>of</strong> English Literature Examination Texts are billed to students (<strong>Year</strong>s 10 & 11).4. IB Courses/A-Levels (<strong>Year</strong>s 12 and 13) – students are charged <strong>for</strong> their text-books, which they keep.5. Uplands Parent Teacher Association – RM20 <strong>Year</strong>ly membership fee.6. School Trips, Activities – billed as necessary according to cost.7. Library Fines – students who fail to return books within the appropriate time may be fined. Studentswill also be billed <strong>for</strong> damaged or lost books and other resources borrowed from the Library.8. Additional Administrative <strong>Fees</strong> – <strong>for</strong> non-routine administrative tasks requested from the School(e.g. school trips, the issuance <strong>of</strong> archive certificates or unusual examination requirements), anappropriate fee will be assessed and agreed in advance.Withdrawing a Student from School:When a student will be leaving School, prior notice, in writing, giving the date <strong>of</strong> leaving must be given tothe Admissions Office via email at admissions@uplands.org or filling up the online withdrawal notice<strong>for</strong>m at http://www.uplands.org/UPLANDS/Withdrawal-Notice-Procedure be<strong>for</strong>e the mid-term vacation<strong>of</strong> the preceding term. If the mid-term break is particularly early, the School may revise the date.The School will send you an acknowledgement once we receive your notice <strong>of</strong> withdrawal. If you do nothear from us within two days <strong>of</strong> your submission <strong>of</strong> withdrawal notice, please contact the AdmissionsOffice at extension 103. For <strong>2013</strong>/20<strong>14</strong>, the following dates are the final dates <strong>for</strong> notice to be received <strong>for</strong>a student who is leaving at the end <strong>of</strong> that term to ensure any refund <strong>of</strong> deposit:Term 1 (11 th October <strong>2013</strong>); Term 2 (<strong>14</strong> th February 20<strong>14</strong>); Term 3 (23 rd May 20<strong>14</strong>)
