SEALANTS<strong>321</strong> Acrylic Caulk7April 2003(Supersedes August 2000)APROFESSIONAL QUALITYPRODUCT NAME<strong>CRL</strong> <strong>321</strong> Acrylic Caulk with SiliconePRODUCT DESCRIPTION<strong>CRL</strong> <strong>321</strong> is a premium quality, one <strong>com</strong>ponent acrylic caulkwith silicone, featuring outstanding properties includingadhesion, weather resistance, low shrinkage, long tooling timeand more. The acrylic base offers outstanding adhesion andresistance to oxidation and ultraviolet rays. The siliconizedfeature improves the adhesion to ceramic and glass substrates.<strong>321</strong> provides a waterproof and weatherproof seal without theuse of a primer. It can be painted with latex or oil-based paints.BASIC USES<strong>321</strong>’s primerless adhesion characteristics offer excellentadhesion to aluminum, wood, concrete, glass, ceramic tiles, etc.It can be used for interior or exterior applications since it isodor free and offers superior weatherability. <strong>321</strong> can be usedin areas with high moisture, such as showers, bathrooms, sinksand kitchens, since it is mildew resistant and waterproof.Clear <strong>321</strong> goes on white but cures to a clear, inconspicuousseal which allows matching of dissimilar painted surfaces. Joint depths should be no thicker than 1/2"(12.7 mm) and no thinner than 1/8" (3.2 mm). For typical jointdesigns, the ratio of joint width to sealant depth should beapproximately 2:1.JOINT DIMENSIONSPolyurethane or polyethylene foam backer rod isre<strong>com</strong>mended for deep joints. Use polyethylene tape on jointstoo shallow to ac<strong>com</strong>modate foam rod.These materials permitthe application of a thin bead and act as bond breakers, whichallow the sealant to stretch freely with joint movement.INSTALLATIONSURFACE PREPARATIONThe substrate must be of sound quality and be clean, dry andfree of dust, oils or grease.Thoroughly remove all looseparticles and old sealant. Clean surfaces with <strong>com</strong>pressed air,sandblast or solvent. No priming is necessary. Dampness butnot saturation or standing water in porous substrates can betolerated.APPLICATIONDo not apply sealant when the temperature is below 40°F(4ºC). <strong>CRL</strong> <strong>321</strong> can be tooled for approximately 30 minutesafter application.PAINTINGSealant may be painted two hours after application withquality grade latex or oil based paints.CLEANINGSoap and water may be used to remove excess sealant from thesubstrate before cure, and to clean tools. After cure, the sealantmust be removed by mechanical means.PRECAUTIONRead Material Safety Data Sheet before using product for thefirst time. Uncured sealant may irritate the eyes. Avoid contactwith eyes and skin. Contact lens wearers take appropriateprecautions.IN CASE OF CONTACT, FLUSH EYES <strong>WITH</strong> WATER, CALL APHYSICIAN. Do not take internally. If swallowed, consult aphysician . KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.COLORS<strong>CRL</strong> <strong>321</strong> is available in Clear,White, Bronze,Almond, and Gray.Custom Color are available on request.STORAGEStore in a cool place at room temperature.When stored at orbelow 90ºF (32ºC) and protected from freezing in the original,unopened containers, <strong>CRL</strong> <strong>321</strong> has a shelf life of 12 monthsfrom the date of manufacture.
