2004 has been a year of intense activity for <strong>Bewator</strong> to ensure that you truly
feel that “With us you are safe”. This focus will continue in 2005.
Increase the strength of the <strong>Bewator</strong> group
Today <strong>Bewator</strong> have staff and associates in twelve countries, and sell in over 45 countries, but
we operate as one team. We are driving efficiency through the organisation like never before,
with one clear objective: to continuously develop and improve customer and technical services.
<strong>Bewator</strong> is today also more focused than ever on securing its core customer relations, and our
acquisition and divestment activities in 2004 demonstrate this commitment to the security
business.
Divesting our Business Area Parking in November 2004 (Cale Access) allows us now to concentrate
our resources entirely on the access security business. We have further strengthened
our position in Video Control in Scandinavia, with the acquisition of leading distributor Antech,
and in Access Control in Finland with the acquisition of Aldata Industries Oy (Flexim), a leading
access control and time and attendance manufacturer. The acquisition of Aptus has also contributed
to strengthening <strong>Bewator</strong>’s position in security for the Swedish residential market.
We are in a phase of solid organic international growth, and in that context, we need the strongest
possible position in our home markets and in our core security business.
Step up leading edge technologies development
This commitment extends to product development activities. The refocus on the security business,
and the recent acquisitions, will help strengthen our in house competences in the design
and supply of total security solutions. We spend 8% of our revenues on R&D, which says much
on our drive to add value and bring innovative solutions to the security customer. It is therefore
fantastic when our efforts meet wide market recognition: our first biometric solution, the
Fingerprint Codoor has proven to be a success from the start with our customers, and this is a
great testimony to the care <strong>Bewator</strong> takes in developing cutting-edge, user-friendly solutions.
Our partners more than ever depend on the ability to grow on <strong>Bewator</strong> products and the added
value delivered by systems solutions. This is our fastest growing product area: +30% in 2004,
which outperforms the European market growth for integrated systems. Then again we do have
a unique position in the industry, where we have the knowledge and experience in those areas
to bring total security solutions to our installers, integrators and end-users.

<strong>Bewator</strong> has been active and successful for many years in delivering value for our customers
and shareholders and today we are among the leading European suppliers of Access Control.
We were proud to receive the message in 2003 that the distinguished research institute Frost &
Sullivan ranked us as Europe’s No 3 in Access Control, and in fact, the largest European manufacturer
in their market survey.
The security industry is undergoing drastic changes, with intense consolidation activities. This
is partly due to the realisation that what the market really wants is total security solutions,
not bolt-on solutions. Up until then, the shift towards new technologies has very much been
tackled independently by alarm, fire warning, access control or CCTV manufacturers. Based on
a long tradition of security technology innovation, our expertise puts us at the cutting edge of
modern technology and development. And with the strength of our global organisation and our
partners, we have a fantastic platform on which to be successful in the market together.

2004 was a record year for sales, with a growth rate well above market average, achieved both organically
and through acquisitions. <strong>Bewator</strong> supplied equipment to secure more than 60000 new doors in
2004, and over 1 million new people, which took the total of doors secured by <strong>Bewator</strong> solutions past
the 1.5 million mark. <strong>Bewator</strong> now secures over 15 million people worldwide.
These results reflect <strong>Bewator</strong>’s strategy to drive efficiency through the organization, whilst keeping strategic

The outlook is good for the security industry
as a whole: recent years have seen an
increase in government fundings in fields
which are particularly sensitive like border
control in Europe with the addition of 10
new member states, and as security move
up the corporate agenda, this obviously
opens new avenues for security providers
like <strong>Bewator</strong>.
Systems are the fastest growing segment
in the <strong>Bewator</strong> portfolio. With 30% growth
in revenues between 2003 and 2004, this
product area outperforms the growth rates in
the industry. Because they are scalable, our
systems can address the security needs in
wide ranging applications. The diagram on
the left gives an indication of where <strong>Bewator</strong>
systems are used in Scandinavia.

<strong>Bewator</strong> is pursuing 3 key strategic directions,
both through organic growth and via acquisitions:
1. Reinforce its leading position in home markets
2. Develop its integrated systems portfolio
3. Expand on international markets.
In 2004, this led to the acquisition of Aptus
(residential access control leader in Sweden),
Antech (leading video control distributor in
Denmark and Sweden) and Flexim ( leading

Great Ormond St. Hospital
• United Kingdom
Great Ormond Street treats over 90,000
patients each year for some of the rarest and
most complex conditions. It is a high pressure
environment, with a heavy and constant
throughput of staff, patients and visitors.
The hospital has undergone a major security
upgrade using <strong>Bewator</strong> Granta security system
to secure some 120 access points throughout
the hospital building. This is a large system
operating in a very busy environment. The
security system needed to be easy to use and

hospital’s future requirements.

Pattaya beach monitoring project
• Thailand
The Pattaya beach monitoring project covers the
4km stretch of white sand and palm trees, just
a short walk away from Pattaya lively streets.
Monitoring cameras were installed along the
beach, including 44 Solaris domes and 16
<strong>Bewator</strong> pan & tilts and housings, to ensure
the security of locals and tourists. The system
is based around one main control centre linked
over IP to four sub-control rooms which monitor
the area 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Live
images are fed back in real time to enable local
authorities to react promptly to security alerts.
DHL
• Sweden
DHL chose <strong>Bewator</strong> 2010 integrated security
system for the security of its distribution centres
in Sweden. DHL is a world leading transport
and logistics company which needed innovative
solutions. With 100 centres in Sweden, they
needed a system which could provide the same
level of security and flexibility to each centre,
whilst allowing for central monitoring to take
place as necessary.

Three Decades of Security
It all began 27 years ago with a property-owner with worries.
The <strong>Bewator</strong> concept was born in Sweden from the need to secure residential buildings
and solve issues associated with the use of traditional keys: loss, duplication, etc. Björn
Wallander, a property owner, started to think and started sketching a totally new solution:
the first codelock was born. The year was 1977.
Today, the <strong>Bewator</strong> Group has developed and grown from its founders' first solutions into
an international leader in the field of Access Security.
