Many school groups visitand they can support school curricula on indigenous, science and environmental studies.Australian plants is all they do, while the bulk of the plant stock is West Australian natives, thereare some that sneak in from the other side that are suited to our conditions. One you may haveseen, but did not realise was a native is Syzygium Orange Twist (Syzygium paniculatum ‘OrangeTwist’). It has stunning twisted orange new growth that contrast brilliantly with the dark greenfoliage. It has a compact growth habit and perfect for growing as a low hedge.<strong>The</strong> Summer Red Flowering Gum (Corymbia ficifolia x Eucalyptus ptychocarpa ‘Summer Red’)has huge brightly coloured flowers in summer and early autumn. One of its parents, the redflowering gum can vary in flower colour from white to red and every shade in between. Buying agrafted variety will guarantee brilliant flowers when the tree is young.Grevillea Honey Gem (Grevillea pteridifolia x Grevillea banksii ‘Honey Gem’) and WoollyGrevillea (Grevillea lanigera ‘Mt Tamboritha’) are so easy to grow. Grevilleas are available in ahuge range of colours, growth habits and foliage forms. <strong>The</strong>re are varieties suited to growing inalkaline soil or heavy clay and one thing you can be guaranteed of is attracting the birds to yourgarden when there are grevilleas in flower. Even if you are not a fan of Grevilleas, a family ofhoney-eaters will eat up all the scale insects, spiders and aphids so you don’t need to spraywith anything toxic.<strong>The</strong> production nursery is fully accredited following Best <strong>Nursery</strong> Practice and reinforces theteam’s commitment to quality of stock and operations.
