11ScholarshipsCongressional Black Caucus Foundation, Inc.The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Inc.has announced that applications for six of its <strong>2011</strong>scholarships are available online.Scholarships are offered to students through thevarious CBC members’ district offices and are availableto high school seniors or full‐time undergraduate,graduate or professional school students with aminimum 2.5 grade point average.Application deadlines range from Thursday, <strong>April</strong>14th through Wednesday, June 1st, <strong>2011</strong>, dependingon the scholarship.To apply, interested students should submit theirapplication materials online to http://www.cbcfinc.org/scholarships. All packages shouldinclude: A completed application form Personal statement (500 words or more) that addressesall four of the topics listed on the applicationin one essay Letter of acceptance from intended institution Two letters of recommendation (i.e. one from acommunity or public service leader). Email addresseswill be requested of each recommender. One‐page resume listing extracurricular activities,honors, employment, community service and specialskills. A recent photograph in cap & gown or professionaldress (No group or social photos) Official high school or college transcripts are to bemailed to the following address, with the name ofthe scholarship the student is applying for as theaddressee: Congressional Black Caucus Foundation,Inc., 1720 Massachusetts Ave., NW Washington,D.C. 20036Scholarships assist students in a variety of academic concentrations,including environmental studies to health, performingarts and visual arts.Society of Women Engineers ScholarshipThe SWE Scholarship Program provides financial assistanceto women admitted to accredited baccalaureate orgraduate programs, in preparation for careers inengineering, engineering technology and computerscience. In <strong>2010</strong>, SWE disbursed 170 new and renewedscholarships valued at almost $500,000.SWE provides one application for sophomores throughgraduate students and one application for freshmen.Applicants complete an application and areconsidered for all scholarships that they are eligiblefor.
