From <strong>the</strong> President’s Deskby <strong>Cicero</strong> <strong>Town</strong> President Larry DominickDear <strong>Cicero</strong> residents,I want <strong>to</strong> start this month bythanking <strong>the</strong> <strong>Town</strong> Clerk MarilynColpo and her staff for <strong>the</strong>irefficient handling <strong>of</strong> early votingat <strong>Town</strong> Hall for <strong>the</strong> primaryelection. <strong>The</strong>y did a great job asalways.Remember if you did not geta chance <strong>to</strong> vote early thatTuesday, February 5, is <strong>the</strong>primary election day. Polls areopen from 6am-7pm so pleaseget out and vote.+++I am very excited about <strong>the</strong>“Senior Ambassadors” programwe launched last month.<strong>The</strong> objectives <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> newlycreated department will includeworking with seniors <strong>to</strong> protect<strong>the</strong>m from abuse; organizing andperforming safety and wellnesschecks; and ensuring seniors donot fall prey <strong>to</strong> scams and o<strong>the</strong>rcriminal activity.Initially, <strong>the</strong> <strong>to</strong>wn will hire tw<strong>of</strong>ull-time “Senior Ambassadors”who will work in conjunction witho<strong>the</strong>r senior services personnel <strong>to</strong>provide <strong>the</strong>se enhanced supportservices and protective measures.As anyone knows who knowsme, my focus as <strong>Town</strong> Presidentis on <strong>the</strong> seniors and <strong>the</strong> kids.<strong>Cicero</strong>’s seniors serve as <strong>the</strong>foundation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>to</strong>wn. We owe<strong>the</strong>m our concern, our respect,and our help. That’s exactly wha<strong>to</strong>ur new “Senior Ambassadors”department aims <strong>to</strong> provide.+++<strong>Cicero</strong> police are continuing<strong>to</strong> press <strong>the</strong> fight against gangs.Drug arrests are on <strong>the</strong> rise andshootings have been on <strong>the</strong>decline. But, as we all know bynow, defeating <strong>the</strong> gangs andgetting <strong>the</strong>m out <strong>of</strong> <strong>Cicero</strong> takesconstant vigilance and coordinatedassistance from residents.I cannot stress this enough. Ourpolice need your help <strong>to</strong> letus know what’s going in yourneighborhood. If you haveproblems with gangs or graffiti,please let us know—let me knowdirectly if you would like. If youhave any concerns you can alwayscall our anonymous tip-line at (708)863-COPS.Your safety and your quality <strong>of</strong> lifeare important <strong>to</strong> me. Please help<strong>the</strong> <strong>to</strong>wn assist you and your familyby letting us know about any illicitactivity in your neighborhood.Mo<strong>the</strong>rs on a Mission Recognize Dominick for Commitment <strong>to</strong>Children with DisabilitiesAt a <strong>the</strong> Mary Queen <strong>of</strong> Heaven Mo<strong>the</strong>rs on a Missionfundraiser in December <strong>of</strong> 2007, <strong>Cicero</strong> <strong>Town</strong> PresidentLarry Dominick (pictured with his wife Elizabeth) wasrecognized with <strong>the</strong> group’s Humanitarian Awardfor his commitment and leadership in providingassistance <strong>to</strong> children with disabilities in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Town</strong> <strong>of</strong><strong>Cicero</strong>.
