They did a great job asalways.Remember if you did not geta chance to vote early thatTuesday, February 5, is theprimary election day. Polls areopen from 6am-7pm so pleaseget out and vote.+++I am very excited about the“Senior Ambassadors” programwe launched last month.The objectives of the newlycreated department will includeworking with seniors to protectthem from abuse; organizing andperforming safety and wellnesschecks; and ensuring seniors donot fall prey to scams and othercriminal activity.Initially, the town will hire twofull-time “Senior Ambassadors”who will work in conjunction withother senior services personnel toprovide these enhanced supportservices and protective measures.As anyone knows who knowsme, my focus as Town Presidentis on the seniors and the kids.Cicero’s seniors serve as thefoundation of the town. We owethem our concern, our respect,and our help. That’s exactly whatour new “Senior Ambassadors”department aims to provide.+++Cicero police are continuingto press the fight against gangs.Drug arrests are on the rise andshootings have been on thedecline. But, as we all know bynow, defeating the gangs andgetting them out of Cicero takesconstant vigilance and coordinatedassistance from residents.I cannot stress this enough. Ourpolice need your help to letus know what’s going in yourneighborhood. If you haveproblems with gangs or graffiti,please let us know—let me knowdirectly if you would like. If youhave any concerns you can alwayscall our anonymous tip-line at (708)863-COPS.Your safety and your quality of lifeare important to me. Please helpthe town assist you and your familyby letting us know about any illicitactivity in your neighborhood.Mothers on a Mission Recognize Dominick for Commitment toChildren with DisabilitiesAt a the Mary Queen of Heaven Mothers on a Missionfundraiser in December of 2007, Cicero Town PresidentLarry Dominick (pictured with his wife Elizabeth) wasrecognized with the group’s Humanitarian Awardfor his commitment and leadership in providingassistance to children with disabilities in the Town ofCicero. Mothers on a Mission is a group of committedparents of children with disabilities who support oneanother and face their unique challenges together.“I am humbled by this award,” said an emotionalDominick. “The parents of this organization whowill stop at nothing to provide the best for their kids are the true humanitarians.I am just glad that with the help of Kathy Ordman and other town staff, myadministration has been able to raise the profile of the disabled community andpitch in where we can to improve conditions for these families.”Thank you in advance for yourhelp—and stay warm, baseballseason is right around the corner.Sincerely,Larry DominickCicero Town PresidentP.S.
