Fee In<strong>for</strong>mationFee List 2011No Application FeeThere is no application fee to apply to Curtin College.Student Employment<strong>International</strong> students in Australia receive permission to work with theirvisa grant. This permission allows students to work up to 20 hours perweek during semester and full-time during semester breaks.<strong>Navitas</strong> Family Bursary<strong>Navitas</strong> offers financial support in the <strong>for</strong>m of family bursaries. A familybursary applies where two or more students from the same family studyat a <strong>Navitas</strong> institution.The first family member can be studying with a <strong>Navitas</strong> institution at thesame time as other family members or may have previously studied withany <strong>Navitas</strong> institution. For the purpose of this bursary, a family memberis defined as a brother, sister, mother, father, son, daughter or stepchild.The family bursary is granted to the second and subsequent familymembers who study with a <strong>Navitas</strong> institution. The bursary is equivalentto 10% of the tuition fee <strong>for</strong> one program only (i.e. Certificate IV inUniversity Foundation Studies, Diploma, Bachelor degree or Masterdegree with a <strong>Navitas</strong> institution) and is credited to the eligible student’stuition fee account each semester (the amount being relevant to thenumber of units undertaken in that semester). The bursary does notapply to additional units or repeat units that may also be undertaken.Please note:1. The <strong>Navitas</strong> family bursary is not applicable to English languageprograms or any component of an English language program offeredby <strong>Navitas</strong> members. Please contact the relevant <strong>Navitas</strong> member <strong>for</strong>more in<strong>for</strong>mation.2. The <strong>Navitas</strong> family bursary applies to students studying at ACN, CurtinCollege, Curtin Sydney, EI, FIC, HIBT, LIBT, MQC, MIBT, PIBT, QIBT,SAIBT and SIBT only.<strong>Navitas</strong> Academic Merit Scholarships<strong>Navitas</strong> is committed to helping students achieve their career goals byoffering scholarships to outstanding students.The scholarship applies to 50% of the tuition fee <strong>for</strong> a <strong>Navitas</strong> Diplomaprogram at a <strong>Navitas</strong> college or one academic semester of undergraduatestudies at ACN, Curtin Sydney or MQC.To be considered <strong>for</strong> a <strong>Navitas</strong> academic merit scholarship, students must:1. have achieved a minimum average of 70% in their high school finalyear grades. <strong>Students</strong> who have completed further studies must haveachieved a minimum average of 70% in the last 12 months of theirmost recent studies to be eligible. Non-academic subjects includingphysical education, religion and languages are not included in theassessment; and2. have achieved a minimum English language proficiency of IELTS 5.5 orequivalent; and3. have a Letter of Offer from a <strong>Navitas</strong> college or <strong>Navitas</strong> operateduniversity campus (must hold an UNCONDITIONAL OFFER by theapplication deadline) ; and4. be a new applicant (i.e. students who are currently studying with a<strong>Navitas</strong> member are not eligible).NB. Additional factors such as educational disadvantage, membershipof a specific equity group and/or significantly adverse personalcircumstances may be taken into account where the committee mustdifferentiate between equally qualified applicants.<strong>Students</strong> who are eligible to apply <strong>for</strong> a <strong>Navitas</strong> academic meritscholarship will be sent the scholarship application <strong>for</strong>m with their Letterof Offer.The Diploma program may also be known or registered as Diploma Stage2, 1st Year Degree Program or University Transfer Program Stage 2 bysome <strong>Navitas</strong> member institutions.Calculation of FeesThe tuition fees shown represent full-time study over the periodindicated. Actual tuition fees are calculated on a per unit basis, andvariation to a normal full-time course load will result in a pro-rataadjustment to tuition fees. Tuition fees may rise each year. This feeschedule should be read in conjunction with Curtin College’s publishedrefund policy. <strong>International</strong> students who study in Australia under theprovision of a student visa must maintain a full-time study load.Tuition fees are payable in advance prior to the commencement of astudy period. A levy may be payable if fees are not paid by the due date.<strong>Students</strong> can only re-enrol if the tuition fees have been paid. <strong>Students</strong>repeating a failed unit have to pay tuition fees <strong>for</strong> that unit again.Fees are payable be<strong>for</strong>e each trimester (or semester). <strong>Students</strong> paythe rate applicable <strong>for</strong> that academic year and not the rate of the yearin which they began their course. Please note that fees are subject toan annual review. Tuition fees do not include textbooks, stationery orOSHC charges. An ancillary fee or additional separate charge may applyto particular units (e.g. uni<strong>for</strong>m, lab coat, etc.).
