Missouri <strong>State</strong> <strong>Highway</strong> <strong>Patrol</strong>Criminal Records & Identification DivisionThe Criminal Records and Identification Division is located at the Missouri <strong>State</strong> <strong>Highway</strong> <strong>Patrol</strong>'sGeneral Headquarters in Jefferson City, Missouri. <strong>Student</strong>s interested in an internship withthis division must complete their internship at General Headquarters.Responsibilities of the Criminal Records include assisting criminal justice agencies in identifyingindividuals through fingerprints, maintaining and operating the Automated Fingerprint IdentificationSystem (AFIS), serving as the central state criminal records repository, processing recordrequests from non-criminal justice agencies for criminal history record checks, fingerprinting individualswho come to the division and request the service, and maintaining the official state SexOffender Registration File.The Criminal Records and Identification Division is seeking students who are working towardshis/her Bachelor's Degree in statistics, mathematics, criminal justice or related field. The internwill assist with the compilation and collection of statistical information relating to criminal history,workload analysis, etc. The intern may also assist with filing fingerprint cards and other clericalduties, as necessary.The individual selected for an internship should possess a basic understanding of statistics andcriminal justice administration.15
