IT Security (A.S. Degree)General Info -- The NWFSC Associate in Science degree in IT Security is a two-year programdesigned in response to the increased growth of information technology security concerns, fromregional to international environments. A companion certificate program in Database and E-CommerceSecurity is also offered. Information security personnel must continually adapt to stay a step aheadof cyber-attackers. They must stay up to date on the latest methods attackers are using to infiltratecomputer systems and on IT security. Analysts need to research new security technology to decidewhat will most effectively protect their organization. This may involve attending cybersecurityconferences to hear firsthand accounts of other professionals who have experienced new typesof attacks. Information security analysts sometimes have to be on call outside of normal businesshours in case of an emergency at their organization.
