This was the 12th yearthat volunteers from both the USand international locations reachedout to children in the annual CHESTmeeting’s host city to present aboutlung health and the dangers oftobacco. Approximately100 6thgraders interactedwith the presentersand “student buddies”during thisprogram, whichutilizes differentaspects of TheFoundation’s LungLessons SM program.Comments gatheredafter the programindicate that themessage made itOctober 22 - 27Honolulu, Hawaiito the young listeners and included:“I learned a lot more about howsmoking affects your lungs. I willnever smoke, so I can stay healthyand live longer.”“I learned that rat poison is incigarettes.”“All cigarettes are bad, even if they(advertisers) say it’s good.”The ACCP Industry AdvisoryCouncil presented a $10,000 grant toVancouver School District 39, whichincludes Laura Secord ElementarySchool.
