Dan H. Cockrell Dissertation<br />
Award Fund is Endowed<br />
Early in 2008, the Dan H. Cockrell <strong>EdD</strong><br />
Dissertation of the Year Award fund was endowed.<br />
Achieving endowed status means that the fund<br />
balance had reached the minimal amount required<br />
for investment and generation of income for the<br />
purposes for which the fund was intended. It also<br />
means that in future years the <strong>EdD</strong> program can draw<br />
from the proceeds of this fund (not the principal) for<br />
a cash award that will be given to the Dissertation of<br />
the Year Award winner. We again want to thank Dr.<br />
Cockrell for establishing the fund as well as the over<br />
120 donors who have made this endowment possible.<br />
Contributions can still be made to the fund and as the<br />
fund grows, so will the amount of the cash award. You<br />
can help by directing your gifts to the University of<br />
Missouri Dan H. Cockrell Dissertation Award. Your gift<br />

<strong>EdD</strong> Dissertation Research<br />
Funding Available<br />
Funds are available to assist <strong>EdD</strong> students doing<br />
dissertation research on the <strong>EdD</strong> <strong>Program</strong>. The purpose<br />
of this funding is to encourage high quality research on<br />
this outstanding program so others and we can benefit<br />
from learning more about how the program functions<br />
and the outcomes to which it contributes. Any student<br />
enrolled in the <strong>Statewide</strong> <strong>Cooperative</strong> <strong>EdD</strong> <strong>Program</strong><br />
from any cohort, from any site, may apply for these<br />
funds. Funds may be used for, but are not limited to the<br />
following: creation of survey instruments, mailing of a<br />
survey instrument and/or follow-up letter, transcription<br />
fees, travel to interview sites, software, etc.<br />
Amount Available: Awards of up to $1,000 will be<br />
made to students who provide a copy of a dissertation<br />
proposal and appropriately signed form showing<br />
that the research has been approved by the student’s<br />
committee. Students must write a one-page description<br />
of how the funds are to be used.<br />
Due Date: Proposals for funding will be accepted at<br />
any time. Proposals will be reviewed by a three-member<br />
committee composed of the <strong>EdD</strong> <strong>Program</strong> Director,<br />
<strong>EdD</strong> <strong>Program</strong> Associate Director, and one other faculty<br />
member from a Partner Institution. Awards will be made<br />
on a first-come, first-served basis during each fiscal year<br />
(July 1-June 30) until funds are exhausted.<br />
Expectations: Recipients will be expected to write a<br />
summary of major findings and implications of their<br />
research for inclusion in the <strong>EdD</strong> <strong>Program</strong> Electronic<br />
Newsletter.<br />
