No galling was observed afterseveral make-ups.■ <strong>Connection</strong> yield torque tests<strong>Connection</strong> yield torque value includessufficient safety factors for field application.■ Tension to failure testsNeither connection leakages nor structuralfailures were detected after the tests.■ Initial tests related to CAL I Series Baccording to ISO 13679Structural integrity was successfullydemonstrated. The connection did not exhibita hydrostatic leak through the test program,which incorporated the 95% VME envelope.■ Fatigue testsIn deviated wells the pipes are subject tobending stresses that vary depending on thewell design. Additionally, if the string is rotatedduring installation or cementing, the pipeconnections are subject to cyclic compressionand tensile loads.To study this fatigue scenario, <strong>voestalpine</strong>Tubulars built a fatigue testing machine andtested the connection under bending androtating conditions that simulated differentwell deviations. The maximum deviation testedwas 34° per 100 ft.<strong>Connection</strong>s have been tested in a rotatingfatigue test frame up to 1,100,000 revolutionswithout failure.Fatigue limit test with rotating fatigue test frame at <strong>voestalpine</strong> Tubulars6
